Tell-a-Tale Tuesday, No. 2
Once upon a time there was a little girl named Debby Dammit. It's true, although perhaps the name is best explained in another post.... When her first grade teacher asked her what her middle name was, she promptly responded in an obedient and respectful fashion, “DAMMIT!!!” She was cute as a button, would sing or dance for you if you gave her a quarter, but this little girl did not like to read. I know, I know...what a shame...her mother tried...but she just would not take to it! In fact, her mother was quite a reader. But when this little girl grew up, she saw the light. She learned to love words. She sopped them up like gravy and determined to teach her children to love words! She did great at first. However, the time she took to instill a love for words in each baby seemed to slowly deteriorate (a glimpse into her life with her newborn first-child would reveal her reading The Lord of the Rings trilogy out loud and by the age of 12 months old, her reading faithfully to the child at least two hours a day...).In any event, God blessed the fruit of her labors, though they (the labors) seemed to dwindle, and granted the desire of her heart, and this grown up little girl NEVER complained about picking up books!

Those are awesome pictures! We lived about a block from a library when our 4 oldest were little - we lived in a very small town - and they would take their wagon to the library and load it up, and haul them all back home to read, or to be read to. Laura did more of that than I did, but what fun.
That adorable child was only 5. (I think you were only in kidergarten) I do apologize for the middle name; but it did and does make for a cute story.
She grew up to learn that reading is fun! And I am proud to say she is instilling that love into her children. Books RULE!
Love ya babe, MOM
What a funny and intriguing story! Please do a post to enlighten us further.
I love to read too and although I have always enjoyed reading, I think I have grown more fond of it every year. I also love to read to my kids (because then I can read to myself at the same time!) and it makes me very happy to see all of them reading. So many books, so little time!
So cute! I love all the pictures of the kids reading. What a gift.
