Last weekend I volunteered at a Women and Children’s Shelter with my sorority. This is where I met ‘Hanah with one N.’

We were there to host a birthday party for all the kids. Keep in mind that this is a shelter for them-they are there under protective services! We weren’t permitted to take any pictures with them because it could possibly give away their location. Normally, I'm not comfortable working with kids, but this time I LOVED it. Their smiles definitely made my year. It amazedddddd me how they were in such high spirits given the unfortunate (very unfortunate ) circumstances they were in. I was sad during the party, it devastated me to even think that these young, innocent children had to go through (..and currently going through) SUCH DIFFICULT TIMES.

There was one that left such a huge impact on me, imprints on my heart, I swear. I was in charge of nametags and she came up to me and proudly announced, “I’m Hanah with one N,” and shot me a smile. And not just any smile… THE biggest, brightest smile in the universe. A smile that made you feel and understand her happiness, her gratitude, her everythinggggg. I’ve never encountered such a smile that displayed so much feeling. In spite of everything she's going through.. a full on smile she was able to give me.
She made my heart melt..

Just led me to contemplate… if she can appreciate, why can't we?
