Hello friends! I'm almost halfway through my NYC stint, and it's been a blast so far. =) A few random notes before I run off again...
The
Blue Man Group show a couple nights ago was a total riot! I wouldn't know how to describe to you, except that wow... if you ever get a chance to catch the show (and you should), it'll definitely be a very strange and memorable night of your life. =P
Taking the bus through Harlem at 1 in the morning, and then transferring to the subway with about $10k worth of gear with me ... was strangely a lot less eventful than it could have been. Good thing because otherwise, I'd have to bust out some
ninja moves while swinging a suitcase with one hand and my 70-200 mother of a lens in the other. But seriously though, thank God I wasn't threatened at any point in time.
Meeting up with high school buddies I haven't seen in 8 years is da bomb. Hanging out with a bunch of other NYC friends and making new friends is the bomb too. Having different shoots lined up for the next four days is
also the bomb. My love my job. My job is the bomb. I promise not to use "da bomb" again in this entry. Scout's honor.
Check back on this blog again tomorrow. I'll be posting some "behind the scenes" photos of me at work along with some other stuff. I actually need to be heading out now for another shoot, so ... I'll catch you guys later. But before I go, here's a quick pic of my temporary editing bay. Can you find one thing wrong with the picture?

Blue man group is amazing!
I saw it for my 16th bday 2 years ago xD it was great= D/
So funny and great drumming
Pure entertainment
What's wrong... it isn't a Mac? ;);)
Yo Harlem isn't that bad! Though I'd probably be a bit wary with that amount of expensive gear anywhere in NYC at 1am.
yeah Harlem is not that bad... at least if you're around 125th St. 145th St is another story.
i can't tell but is that a bowl of something that's gonna spill over behind your computer?
Um.... you're near a microwave?
=o.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE PICTURE?!
>_<
Oh wait - you're not in it.
That must be it.
i was going to say the same thing as trannietoes, about the yellow spillage. I like the new layout!
@chix0rgirl -
I agree. It's because it's not a Mac. ;)
Ehh Some parts of Harlem is safe to go into.
I can spot one thing wrong with it...
WHERE IS THE COFFEE!!!
i love the workstation :]
Things wrong with this picture:
1.) Looks like way more peripherals than I see items actually plugged into the computer. You got USB ports in the back of that thing?
2.) Looks like you're about to put to death a hard drive or two by spilling something in the background there...
3.) You are a photographer and you are using a PC. This sin will not go un-punished!
Take care,
=Matt=
You have your microwave and Brita plugged into your PC. lol...
I try not to have liquids near my PC and stuff though. But then again, I'm a lot more clumsy than most people.
it's a deLL instead of a mac!
too cool man too cool. put that hood on the 70-200 and you can have a mean crenelated barrel to jab people with. good thing that lens is made of metal!
You call that a workstation? This is a workstation!
http://nerdbusiness.com/blog/top-96-kick-ass-home-office-setupsIt's a bit eerie. Looking at your laptop is like looking at mine, coz it's the EXACT SAME ONE. Ha!

lol... what is wrong with the picture? if you said that it's not a Mac .............. you're correct. (I also wasted 2 hours last night because Vista decided to change some file attributes on me and didn't let me fix it!) haha.. and if you noticed the spillage in the back... bonus point for you. =P
@CareyGLY - droooool. wow some of those workstations are SEXY!
@FreeeVerse - haha the same one? sweet. I bought mine almost a year ago, when they had some crazy good deal going ($600 off or something). The whole system is not as reliable as I'd like though. :(
@junshien - Yeah, mine's over a year old too. IT's lousy
The letter "O" on my keyboard is spoilt, so I have to use an external one. Dumb Dell. But it's dirt cheap, so... yeah. :)
You could always start with a new keyboard

Plus it's still less crowded than my workstation :)
@junshien - Hey Junshien, if you want to see some to-die-for workstations, just come down to LA and hang out around Hollywood or somewhere where they do commercial shoots all the time. Photographers bring on-location processing houses and set up with top-of-the-line Mac towers, 20-30" monitors, everything, and they download the images and process them on-site. The kind of work that Genova (xanga) does. It is NUTS how much computer equipment they have at their disposal, ...anywhere!
