  • Barfry

Mr. Bee and I went to go try a new restaurant in the West Village called Market Table earlier today, but it was closed for lunch.  Luckily Barfry is next door - another new restaurant I wanted to try.  Barfry has a largely tempura based menu, but they also have po boys, raw seafood selections and lots of bar snacks with an Asian twist.

We started with Fresh Wasabi Peas (snow peas, snap peas, sea salt), and the Cherry Tomatoes (basil pickles, sriracha, olive oil).  Both were very crisp and light - I really enjoyed the peas.  The four dipping sauces are for tempura...

    We ordered shrimp tempura.

Then Mr. Bee had the crab cake po boy and I had the pork cutlet po boy which has kimchi in it!

Dessert was an ice cream trio - green tea, black sesame, and bay leaf (the best one).

Everything was decently priced, yummy and the service was great.  I'm a nibbler so I love that they have a good variety of different snacks and entrees to choose from.  Oh their gaijin pale ale which is brewed specifically for them was also great.

    I'll definitely be going back!
