| Wanna get away?
Carolina may be out, but Dook will always suck.

| Long time, no speakWell, since Kyle was fussing at me that I don't update my xanga anymore, I thought I'd go ahead and do that (HA!)
Emily turned three months on Thursday, so in just a few short hours, we'll go collect her from daycare and get her pictures taken...thankfully, I'm off work, so I have a free and clear and hopefully peaceful day away from that, before starting a trek of six straight fun days before vacation...and, of course, the NCAA tournament starts then too (strange that I'd be off for that - hmmm).
Let's see, what has happened since I last updated way back in October.
Well, obviously the big one was the birth of my daughter on the 9th of December...Emily Frances continues to astound, amuse and amaze me every day...people always say your world is turned upside down with the birth of a child, and it's true.
Last month, my mom had a heart attack and quintuple (yes, five) bypass surgery...she's home in Emporia and slowly recovering after a return visit to the hospital...this of course came in the month one year after my father passed away, so naturally, saying I was afraid would be a colossal understatement.
Work of course continues to be a place that I spend forty hours a week and end up largely unsatisfied...I enjoy the people there for the most part, but...change may be coming...we'll see.
I'm also struck by the irony of life in that a lot of things that I'd looked at as ideals and perfection have changed into concerns and worries...it also strikes me as bizarre that when my work life was going well, my personal life was chaos, but now that the personal life is stable and normal, work is chaos.
Anyway, think that's enough meanderings for one night...won't promise another update real soon, but probably less than five months from now.

| Geez, how long has it been?...like four months (is that four months, or LIKE four months)...anyhow...next baby appointment is in about eight hours, in between, I'm gonna get off at least one more match in FIFA 2006 (it's similar to heroin methinks), sleep a couple of hours, and waste a couple hours at the Monday morning meeting (fun stuff)...maybe it'll be short, with four people gone this week, although only one of the forementioned does much talking...guess I have to go, since I skipped last week so I could get my tags renewed (and what a loverly bunch of fun that was)
Emily seems to be doing fine...she supposedly weighs about four pounds according to Nikki's research, and is growing at about a half pound a week...really REALLY need to get on the ball and send out some of the 3D ultrasound pix.
Of course, I'd be remiss if I didn't at least mention how pleased I am that a) hockey is back (though I'm not sure if I like 6-5 games all the time); b) the Patriots beating Atlanta (even if they didn't have number L, I mean 7 Mike Vick); and c) the utter stomping that Chelsea laid on Liverpool (take that you 'Scousers)
Ah well, Nikki's up and grumbling to head to bed, so it's that time (whaaat! it's only 3?)
| What does it all mean?
It means that all of the KU fans who have yet to get over Coach Williams' departure get to simmer in their juices for the next 12 months, while he celebrates a National Championship.
It means that at least for the rest of the week, I'm pretty dang happy.
It means more money spent on championship merchandise, something a lot of folks around here don't have to worry about (HEHEHE).
It means I have the next 4 1/2 months without any organized sport, and getting to truly savor the last two, which ended of course, with wins.
It means I get nothing out of my pool, despite two more solid brackets, but hey, I'll take that ANY DAY.
And maybe most importantly, it means that Dook fans get to look at the number of championships won, and realize, that yes, they are again an inferior breed.
One last observation...all season long I have vehemently declared that one of Illinois' big men, James Augustine, was a chump and a stiff...his numbers tonight - 9 minutes, 0 points, 5 fouls...dang, I HATE it when I'm right (snickers).
| Just an FYI
If you try and call me on Monday night...I won't answer.
Me and the Tar Heels have a date with destiny.
How's the vacation going Coach K?
