 OK... back to the ninjas...

Ryutaro Otomo really is just THE SHIT, isn't he. Like a Japanese Harrison Ford, he mastered multiple franchise-caliber characters in one career. Besides playing Jubei Yagyu, and the one-eyed/one-armed chambara classic Tange Saizen, he was also the iconic Kaiketsu Kurozukin - the pistol-wielding 'Man in the Black Hood.'

This odd character was a shinobi master of disguise fused with a Republic-style superhero. His trademark was two revolvers!

And he would brazenly rampage about the countryside during the day in full ninja regalia on a white horse. Not the stealthiest of tactics, but what a statement.

Otomo had some WHACKED OUT hair under that stingray-style ninja hood!

This force for justice can be seen in the quirky film AYAUSHI: KAIKETSU KUROZUKIN, wherein he aids a troupe of Chinese actors and vaudeville-like performers escape a political hotbed in a wagon train right out of any Hollywood programmer western. Too strange!
