More on the Pico Rivera lucha comix bash

"The Pico Rivera Centre for the Arts presents COMICS!, an exhibit featuring
local and nationally recognized artists working in the exciting field of comics
from January 21 - March 13, 2006. The public is invited to attend a FREE artist
reception on Sunday, January 22, 2006 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. Refreshments, entertainment,
and face painting will be featured, FREE of charge. The artists will also be on
hand for book signing at the event. Comic books and other works by the artists will
be available for purchase at the event and throughout the run of the show. Artists
include:

Michael Aushenker is the creator of “El Gato – The Crime Mangler”, a crime-fighting
cat. On top of working on his comic, Aushenker wrote and illustrated the children’s

Jerrell Conner is one of the graphic novel industry’s quickly rising artists. He
is the creator of a self-published graphic novel entitled “Revelations.” Jerrell
has also created works for M.T.V., Hipster Music Catalogue, Tank Clothing, and tour

Louis & Gary Gallegos are the creators of “The Wandering Schoolgirl.” Both have
also worked as artists for Walt Disney Feature Animation. Louis has also worked
for Nickelodeon Television Animation and currently works for Fox Television Animation
on the prime-time animated show “Family Guy.” Gary has worked for the Sony Television
Animation series “Dilbert” and also started the Publishing Company Icecat Books.

Javier Hernandez is the creator of the “El Muerto” comic book series, which has
recently been made into a live action film, staring “That 70’s Show” cast member
Wilmer Valderrama. Javier also instructs art classes at the Pico Rivera Centre for

Rhode Montijo is the creator of the comic book series “Pablo’s Inferno” which tells
about the adventures of an innocent boy’s journey through hell. Find out more about

Rafael Navarro is the creator of the comic book series “Sonambulo.” Although comics
are a priority in the things Rafael loves, this Mexico native is classically trained
in illustration and has worked as a storyboard artist for many notable animated
shows such as Rugrats and Mucha Lucha. “Sonambulo” is currently under option by
Andale Pictures, helmed by Sergio Aguero, producer of “Y Tu Mama Tambien.” A French
edition of the comic book will be published in 2006. To find out more on Rafael

Bernyce Talley is an up and coming female artist in the world of comics. Bernyce
is the creator of the comic book series “Le Menagerie,” published by, her own, Nubian

Gallery hours are: Tues. & Thurs. 1 – 5 pm, Wed. 1 – 8:30 pm, and Sat. 1 – 4
