STOLEN ZOMBIES!!!

DVD

I'm growing to really adore what most of the rest of humanity (and even some Mexi-lucha-hero enthusiasts) would find wretched beyond words - the sub-B-grade Champions of Justice/Mummies of Guanjuato follow-up "Robo de las momias de Guanajuato." Man do I love this film, in that way a demented fanboy can barely rationalize to himself.

The zombies are great in one scene, beneath dollar store Halloween mask quality the next. The wrestlers phone it in, the plot in incoherent, there's really no ending so to speak... and it all makes for my favorite re-issued flick of 2007 so far!

momias

It's on a low-cost double disc with the equally horrendous/amazing "Macabre Legends of the Colonies" - a lucha-infused adaptation of an old Mexi-horror-sploitation comic. It's total fast forward theatre, until you stop, and when you do it's pretty damn great! Some of the best undead holy men outside of the Blind Dead here...

Amazon has the best price, order it here. For some reason, these Brentwood double features (there are a few lucha and horror ones) are really hard to pinpoint in search engines. Always try the "Dos Peliculas Mexicanas" series title first.

Man - those look awesome. Now that the Tower in Covina is closed I have to figure out where to get that in the IE. Probably DVD Planet. - JoeKinski

Best Buy has them, in their often dishelveled CineLatino section, but as usual the best price by far is Amazon or DeepDiscount.com.

I have to say ... I love that section at the BestBuy. It's the best part of the store. Is there a DVD Planet on your side of town? They have a larger Mexican/Latin film section than BestBuy ... and generally lower prices. A lot of times they're cheaper at the store than on their website...
