101_1164 101_1165 101_1169 101_1170 This weekend, we had the Fall Festival.  There was music, food, knitting....  Just about everything!  We listened to a man playing the hammered dulcimer, had kettle corn, and looked at the Model As.  It was a lot of fun.  The weather cooperated, and it was nice and sunny without being too hot.  I hope it's like this again next year.

101_1162 Here is the Crystalline Lattice sock, started on Thursday.  I'm knitting it out of some Artsygal handpainted yarn, in a bamboo/merino/nylon sock blend, and I'm getting some odd pooling.  Note the darker colors on the left and the lighter colors on the right.  I had to fold it in half as it's currently on the needles to get all the colors in, because one needle is the dark side, while the other has headed toward the light.  (Why am I feeling like someone in Star Wars right now?)  But the pattern is fun, and I'm enjoying the knitting so far.

sunset roving While the in-laws were here, I pulled some undyed roving out of the stash and taught mom how to dye roving in a crock pot.  We soaked the roving in warm water, then added it to the crock pot where there was a warm water/vinegar solution waiting.  Then we sprinkled small amounts of powdered dye--first in the yellow and vermillion, and after that was absorbed, we added the periwinkle.  I think it turned into a lovely sunset colored roving, and it might wind up being a Christmas gift for mom once it's spun.  I don't know exactly what yet, but when it tells me what it wants to be, I'll get to work on it.  ;)
