escalator etiquette
isn't it common knowledge that if you're just standing on the escalator, you should stand on the right hand side so that traffic can pass on the left?
almost every day, there is someone standing on the left, one step behind a person standing on the right, so that all traffic moving up/down the escalator is blocked. or they stand right smack in the center. during rush hour.
i'm still trying to think of a polite way to let people know that they can stand there if they want, but they really should stand on the right side. c'mon angelenos.

well, there are signs that tell slow traffic to stay in the right lane...yet ppl STILL drive slowly in the left lane! Â *shrugs*
for a healthy workout, let them stand at either side, not just the right
An abrupt, gruff "excuse me" usually does the trick in DC. Then again, unless you're a tourist, you have no excuse for NOT standing on the right. It's considered the height of rudeness. Props for braving the LA metro and all its adventures.
In SF, I try to get off the train but can't because these halmunees cram in before you get a chance to get out. does this happen in LA too?
