How long have you been photographing???
I get that a lot. A lot of my clients must think I am younger than I actually am (I used to think it was the other way, I looked and acted older than I was!) but I will take that as 30 something is not so young these days!
I picked up my first camera (a bell and howell 35 mm) in 1990. My dad bought it in vietnam in the 70's. I was stuck taking a photography class as an elective my freshman year in highschool. Come to find out, I really LOVED it! I so enjoyed taking the images, developing the film and then printing the B&W image.
2 short years later I was asked to exhibit my images at a photography exhibit at Ispo Facto in Fullerton Calif for a month with 2 other local photographers. What an amazing opportunity! In 1993 I sold my first images at the age of 17.
My mom came across this letter a few days ago that I wrote to them.... so appropriate as I am now working on my next project in photography. Its kinda a personal letter, so if you can get past all the sappy stuff, you will realize its a letter to my parents thanking them for their support at my first photography exhibit in 1993! (yes, my maiden name was Schwartzmeyer)
15 years later new adventures are on my horizon, that this was so perfect to read today!
And don't worry..... YAY for spell check, as I am a horrible speller and writer (still!) Ha! Thank goodness you don't have to be able to spell to be a successful photographer!
