Just got home..long weekend at work. This must have been 'take an asshole to Wal mart' day. Sorry, but most of the folks I waited on today had giant size attitudes. When I arrived home last night, there was a message to call my mother-in-law. I usually don't get home until 11:30 or 11:45, so I knew it must be important. When I called, we did the chit-chat thing for a bit, then she finally told me the reason she had left the message. She was at church on Wed. night, at choir practice, (she plays the piano for her church) and her vehicle was broken into and her purse was stolen. (The irony of this was not lost on me.) They broke the driver side window and broke the seat to get in. She is one of those women that carry her whole life in her purse. This truly makes me angry. This woman is such a good hearted person. No matter what life has thrown her way, I have never heard her complain. She has so much faith that things will always turn out ok. She has made me feel a part of the family from our first meeting. She lost her money. A check that she had made out to 'cash' and didn't have time to make it to the bank because she was running late for choir practice. Her address book. She lost her social security card and driver license and bank card. But, what upset her most, is that they took the pictures she had in the backseat. Pictures of our wedding...pictures of her family at Eastertime. These are the things she cannot replace. She feels violated. Whoever did this has so much vital information about her and her family. She feels threatened. She is hurt and that pisses me off.

That stinks. I had my wallet stolen once, and it was a major hassle...(getting new driver's license, etc...). I try not to leave anything that looks valuable visible in my car ever since my mom's boyfriend had his car window broken and his briefcase stolen. It's a shame that people will do things like that, but it happens. With any luck maybe the purse will turn up somewhere (like a dumpster or something). I can't understand why they'd take the photos.  That's just plain mean and nasty!

I am so sorry.  I once had my apartment broken into, and all my photo albums were stolen.  It's a horrible, awful feeling of violation.  I'm so sorry.

My car was vandalized in the church parking lot once.  It's a horrible feeling.  The car was totalled.  Everything, and I mean everything, was broken or stolen.  In fact, the church bus was vandalized more than once in that same parking lot.  They even urinated all over the inside of it.  Sick, sick people out there.

I'm praying for your mother-in-law's safety and for peace of mind.

Sorry this happened.

That sucks.

I got robbed the day after my wedding. All the presents got stolen.

A rather apt omen really...

Ever,

Set

This really sucks.  You would hope that a church parking lot, of all places, would be safe.  There are some real sickos out there.

Hope everything is recovered, and soon.  Hugs to you and your MIL.
