My parents are having a rough week. My dad was suppose to have an angioplasty done to his heart Wednesday, but there was not enough blockage to do this procedure. They kept him overnight because the dye was not clearing his kidneys and they wanted to monitor his heart due to some dizziness he has been having. Overnight they discovered that his heart rate drops into the thirties at times. So there was some discussion about pacemaker. Last night the doctor says that even though his heart rate drops, it immediately goes back up to an acceptable rate, so they will treat it with medicine.

In the mean time, my mom is at home with her mental problems and her blindness. She does not do well when dad is not around. She can not stay with him in the hospital because she would have way too many needs.I can not even imagine what her poor confused mind is going through.

Last Monday I talked to dad about all of this stuff that is going on in their lives right now. This is the verse he quoted to me.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far out weighs them all.

II Corinthians 4:16-17

What a way to live.

dad and mom

Your dad is a cool man, Linda.

Times like this can be stressful but just remember, God loves your parents more than you do.

Be blessed.

It is so hard to be that far away and not be able to do anything.  My heart and prayers go out to you and your parents.

I know it's hard to hear what they are going through and not be there. But GOD IS THERE! Your Dad has such a wonderful attitude. He knows what's what, that's for sure. May God hold them close and give you peace.

I hope the medicines work well. I remember having to trust the  church members so much for my parents care when I lived in Alaska...and my siblings could not be there all the time. As it turned out ...we were all blessed for that relationship. God still has a purpose for them as long as he keeps them here. They may be a true example of faith to others.

Hugs and Blessings to  you and them too!

Your Dad must be an exceptional person...It must be so hard for you not to be there.  Is there close family there for them?

Prayers to both of them and to you too.

As our parents age, it does indeed become difficult ~ for them and for us. But with Christ in our lives, difficulties just are simply stepping stones to our growing relationship and dependency on our Lord. I like your dad's answer. My parents & Mike and I would agree! What a way to live! {{Hugs to a classy lady}} and prayers for you all just now ~ Carolyn

Your dad's confidence in the hope he enjoys is astounding.  Such hope makes it easier for you although I'm sure it is a rough time.  Prayers.

RYC:  In kindergarten I couldn't pronounce L's in the middle of words.  I swept on my piddow at night etc..  I was given one on one speech therapy at Roeding school where I remember having to sound like an electric pole...   lllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.  I guess that's what electric poles sound like.

You always have great posts.  I enjoy browsing thanks.

Thanks for your comment, Linda! I feel the same way. It would be so cool if we actually got a chance to meet sometime this side of Heaven, but if not, we will still be able to spend eternity together! Not bad, huh?

Thank you for the bible verse from your dad. I stopped by here via Mother Moonie's site. My dad has Parkinson's Disease-I live about 50 minutes from them so I manage to see them once a week(unless someone is in the hospital which seems to ahppen at least once a year these days-and then I'm there more often). This verse really spoke to me-I will be passing it on to Mom and Dad. I pray that the meds help your dad and that your mom finds peace and calmness. My dad is ana mzaing man too-when speaking with him about the PD and asking why someone like him, who has served God his whole life, his answer was that it humbles us and why shouldn't be me rather than someone else. Thanks again for the verse-Cathy
