Rainy days

This is the way it looked out the window when I got off of work Sunday morning.

P9091229

This was a very good rain. Hope those of you who are needing some rain are getting it.

It reminded me of that song we use to sing in church a very long time ago.

There Shall Be Showers of Blessing!

We use to ask the Sunday school teacher not to lead in on Sunday morning because we were certain it would make it rain on Monday.

Hope you all are showered with blessings today.

For those of you husbands who polish your wife's toenails, I am in awe of you.

Morning Miss Linda, You could share some of that rain with us. We'd love to be showered with blessings. We are in drastic drought conditions and under sever water restrictions. I think its the worse I can remember.

Your rain makes for good sleeping weather though! ~Candy

It rained here last night. Nothing unusual about that. The unusual thing is that it didn't rain all day!    We had a birthday party/picnic for our pastor, and it would have been BAD if it had rained. There were LOTS of people in the yard, and they never would have all fit in the house. I hope you weren't too tired to enjoy church at least a little bit, Sweet Linda. I know what you mean about just wanting to be there even when you are tired. "Blessed be the tie that binds our hearts in Christian love." Remember that song?

RYC: Yep! I get the feeling you and I cut our teeth on hymnals! LOL! When I was a kid, I even knew what number page many of the songs were on in the old, brown hymnal with the gold letters our church used. Sometimes I like to start with the letter A and see if I can think of a hymn which begins with that letter... then B, C, etc. It's a little game I play some nights when I can't seem to fall asleep.

Good morning! I am glad to see you are getting some rain. We're supposed to get some more later on this week. Right now it is just hot and dry. There is just something wrong when you are heading towards the middle of September and it is supposed to be 95* today... lol

I am guessing that if I go to LaShish, I'll get good service, but I am not in a Shish mood right now... It's a pity that you had such bad service with Applebees in the past that they closed the restaraurant, but I wonder if they sent the crew down here??? LOL We don't go to Applebees very often, just because it's not close around here. W'd much rather stay closer to Denham than go into Baton Rouge. Lots of hugs! Tracy

I didn't know we were close to 55... we usually get off of 55 in Hammond. (Which is where Ashley is going to school... Southeastern) I am right off of 12.

Let's see... best fast food establishment here in DS... There's Backyard Burgers. That's pretty yummy! And I see where they are building a brand new Raising Cane's down the street. Hasn't opened yet. But I am guessing it will be in the next month or so. They are building it in the old Flea Market shopping center. The Flea Market is now an Office Depot (or Max.. I keep getting those two mixed up), and a Petco should be opening up anytime now. They still kept everything else, Cato's, Rite Aid, Radio Shack, etc... Cane's is being raised from the ground in front of it in the parking lot. I could walk to it if I wanted to.

It did :) Also we DID get a lot of rain yesterday, but I worked all day so that was ok. Another thing is that my feet are very ticklish, so I don't know that I could let anybody else paint my toenails!

Glad you got some rain!  Our local TV stations are a hundred miles away in Phoenix.  When it rains down there, they always have what I call  "gutter shots" of the rain hitting the puddles!

Benoit Mandelbrot is generally considered to be the father of fractals. He coined the term fractal to describe curves, surfaces and objects that have some very peculiar properties. You learned in school that simple curves, such as a line,  have one dimension. Squares, rectangles, circles, polygons, etc. have two dimensions, while solid objects such as a cube, have three dimensions. The three dimensions define space. Time can be considered a fourth dimension. We normally think of dimensions as integers: 1, 2, 3, . . .

What is so peculiar about about fractals is that they have fractional dimensions! A fractal curve could have a dimensionality of 1.4332, for example, rather than 1. Fractals are not just a mathematical curiosity. Most natural objects are fractal by nature, and can be best described using fractal mathematics. Clouds, leaves, the blood vessel system, coastlines, particles of lint, etc. have fractal shapes.

Fractals are generated by an iterative process - doing the same thing again and again. Fractals also have the property that when you magnify them they still look much the same. This is called self-similarity.

laffy taffy.  OH man.. those are the best jokes.  And they come wrapped around some pretty tasty stuff too.  mmmmmm   I thought your joke was funny.  I've actually heard the same joke in referrance to someone with a clogged duct though.  HA.  Both are funny  (or not.. depending on which side of the milk you are)
