  • In the 'proof the universe has a sick sense of humour' department, my job with Mongoose is terminated as of this month, due to editorial/stylistic issues. So, I'm hunting down the people who wanted to interview me. :) Anyone need a writer? Will work cheap!

    Ian, here is your Social Services MIL speaking.  I think you might have potential eligibility to unemployment benefits based on the job you had before Mongoose.  Potential means that there funds in your account.  If there are funds in your account, then they would look at what happened to that job.  You would have to apply on-line with the California Employment Development Department (EDD)  It is worth a try.  Once the 401K money is spent, you might also be eligible for Food Stamps until you find a job.  Your assests must be $2,000 or less.  Your house and car are not counted.  They also do not count stuff like your furniture.  They would be looking at bank accounts, stocks, bonds, etc.  Your gross income would need to be under $1354 a month.
