I've actually eaten huitlacoche while in Mexico. It wasn't bad at all.

This Biology Lab Department I used to work for cloned (corn smut) its genes into bacteria (TOPOL-Cloning) and mutate them so they didnt function properly. I used to love growing them on agar plates. So i can't picture putting it in my mouth as nutrition.
