  • In Which Lizard Has A Wretched Day Or Two...

So, I spend most of the weekend not getting any sleep, end up V. Cranky during game, come home, have my house torn apart for purposes of reconstruction, and then find that a)sometime during the night, my wireless router fried, meaning I needed to buy a new one, and, b)The same thing toasted my computer so it would not turn on. At all. Fortunately, Andrew still works at CompUSA, so the system is up and running, but wireless is V. Wonky, despite new router, not sure why. Spent most of the afternoon trying, and failing, to get WPA configuration to work and had to settle for WEP so it would go w/Beth's laptop. Did I mention needing to buy two USB wireless card for our desktop systems?

Some other annoying and frustrating stuff happened today, but I can no longer recall the details.

In other news, my sister in law is being evacuated due to the firestorms in California. Puts my annoyances into perspective. Poor New Orleaners get evacuated to stadiums. Rich Californians get evacuated to shopping malls. This got Beth and I wondering if the mall shut down while it was full of refugees, or if the storeowners, smelling 'captive audience', stayed open late. If the latter, in precisely how poor taste would it be to advertise a fire sale?

I hope they are OK. I forgot that Jane lives so close to that area.
