Been busy. Busy coding, busy reading, busy everything.
Currently, I'm in a frenzy of world building for two worlds, which is occupying a lot of my mental energy, It's been a long, long time -- about 7 years -- since I did a full worldbuild from scratch, and now, I have a lot more source material to incorporate. How do Warlocks fit in? What about Spirit Shamans? And those are just 'official' things....I've got a few walls of material I have to decide on. I've already mentally decreed Tome of Horrors to be 'official'. Then there's the metaphysics and cosmology to work out. Oh. and some idea of the 'pre history' of Arith, enough to work out cultural details and the like. Even if I limit myself to roughly North America, with vague notes as to the rest of the world, there's still a great deal to know, even in broad strokes. But I don't do predesigned worlds. Never have, unless I'm running a licensed setting like Star Wars, and, even then, I always try to carve out some section of the universe for myself, chronologically or physically.
Of course, the house is still turned upside down from reconstruction, and will be for weeks to come. Sigh. It will all be worth it when it's done.
In other other news,
Child's Play has started up again. Those of you in the Kentuckiana area, please
click this link to donate to the Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville. This is my one act of human-centered charity a year, and it's done mostly to piss off Jack Thompson, not help sick kids, but, hey, those of you with functioning ethical systems can help without being a curmudgeon.
