  • Life Plods On...

So, my read 50 pages/write 1000 words goal is...not quite there. Reading I'm doing...I've finished the Mines of Behemoth and the Lies of Locke Lamora in January, and am working on Wizards First Rule, because any book which so many people hate and which has produced so many sequels has to be worth checking out just to see what all the fuss is over. Lies of Locke Lamora is a great, fun, read, a wonderful model for a street-level fantasy game, and written by Scott Lynch, a fellow D20 writer who dropped his excellent superhero game, Deeds Not Words, like a maggot-infested potato when he got the chance to write novels instead. Do *I* get the chance to write novels? Nooooo...(Yeah, yeah, I know, "You don't submit them". Like THAT ought to matter!)

Speaking of writing novels, the "Steampunk Dragons" novel is also plodding along. Action has begun to occur. I now need to introduce a secondary villain (well, tertiary, now that I think of it) and get Our Heroes onto a zeppelin. Because there must be zeppelins.

I am also once again working on a game design, because as we all know, there aren't enough different ways to roll a "to hit" roll. It neatly fills the all-important niche of "Game which doesn't do anything any other system doesn't do, but which has all-new rules to learn in order to do it."

In other other news, we now have 2 more cats. One of them was supposed to be temporary, but Toaster is such a snugglewugglemuffinkins that we can't get rid of him. There ain't enough pickin'-up-and-cuddlin' cats in the world. And Banshee is just too cute when she's call curled up like a little white doughnut. Kitties!
