Another day, another 1600 words. :) Coming within a whisker of 80K words, about 5K words ahead of schedule now, almost 3 days...my goal is to finish a week early and have time to reread and edit before sending off.
And speaking of whiskers...
A friend of ours found a mouse, in a cage, abandoned in her apartment complex. She owns rats, and so has an affinity for rodents. But she worried the mouse might have diseases which pass to rats, so, she brought the mouse to us to hang onto while she arranges for pet rescue.
The mouse.
To us.
With eight cats.
We have sealed it in the computer room, and we have named it "McNugget". It is, I must admit, an adorable little thing. I have a weird form of sociopathy; I am almost incapable of feeling pity for my fellow man, but get all mooshy-squooshy when I see cute furry animals. Go figure. I'm pretty sure McNugget's original destiny was to be the inside of a boa constrictor or a small furry squeak in the night, but now he'll live a long (for a mouse) and happy life in a good home -- though not ours. Unless, of course, the cats break into the computer room and get the cage open, which is not entirely impossible. I certainly hope not, but I made it clear to our friend that while we would take all reasonable precautions, McNugget's safety is sadly not assured. It's weird, though. By giving it a name, I have mentally moved it from the category of 'vermin' to 'being'.

You can send it to my house if you want. Amanda and I have talked in the past about me sheltering rats for them.
And you renamed yourself 'Lizard'...
Hm....
;) Just kidding
