| So...I have ridden a motorcycle......and it was flippin amazing!! I have decided that this is going to be the summer of doing things that I have never before done. I have already accomplished a few things... 1) Melting in a sauna 2) Riding a motorcycle!! Yes, I have ridden a motorcycle!! Michael had owed me a ride from forever ago, and I finally got it!!! Michael had been waiting to get the other motorcycle helmet to give me a ride, and he finally got it last week. He said that he would come find me during our lunch break and give me a ride. Amanda and John came out, too, since Amanda also wanted a ride. We hopped on his bike, and I said, "where are we going?" "He said, I don't know, guess we'll find out." And he took off to the main road. We were flying down the road, when he kept reaching down by my left leg. I thought maybe my ripped up jeans had gotten caught in something. The motorcycle was kind of chugging. Finally, after we had ridden around for about five minutes, Michael stopped by the side of the road and said "Thank you for riding Michael's motorcycle" in typical Michael fashion. He had been trying to flip the switch for the reserve tank, but apparently the reserve tank was empty as well--go figure!! I got off the bike as he tried to restart it, but it didn't work, and he was afraid that he was going to kill the battery. The starter was fine, but there was not enough gas to get it running again. I suggested that we get off the main road, and cross and sit in someone's driveway, so we did so. He happened to bring his cell phone (I didn't...I was afraid sitting on it would crush it) and he called John. Immediately John said "Did you run out of gas?" Michael: "Now why would you say that?" We then waited for Amanda to go get her mom's car from one end of campus, and have them get some gas for us and come and meet us on the main road. Michael and I sat there for 15 minutes, just talking. We could still see campus, so we weren't far off, but walking it back would've taken forever, and we only had 2 minutes left until break was over and we needed to get back to work. Apparently I was the first ride that Michael had given to anyone outside of his family--and he had run out of gas. He was so embarrassed! After Amanda and John showed up, we put 2 gallons in the tank and took off to get back to campus. We were only 9 minutes late. The next time I saw Michael he put his hard hat over his face so that I couldn't see him, he was so embarrassed about the whole ordeal. It was great. He gave me a ride home from work today, even though he didn't have another helmet, he just let me use his for the five minute trip. I officially love riding on motorcyles! Well, time to do something constructive, like read for my class. I'm out! |
