I have decided to end my contract with my agent. It was a very, very hard decision to make, but I feel it was the right one. We worked together around eighteen months, but there was little to show for our collaboration. So after much agonizing, I asked to be released from my contract. She was very polite about it, and we are still waiting on two submissions, so we'll still be "together" until those play out.
From what I understand, this isn't unusual in the publishing world. It's like any other partnership. Some work; some don't. My mentor has had three agents in her career. As emotional as I am, this was horribly difficult for me to do.
Now I need to decide what the next step is.

I know whatever your next step may be, it will be good for you. You've made a lot of progress since you started writing, and you just keep getting better. I can't wait to see what the future has for your career!!!
I miss you too, and I hope we can get coffee when I get back soon!
I enjoyed hearing your update, even if it was hard news. I pray you a more successful working relationship, soon!
We have 2 cockatiels; Pearl is about 5 and her daughter Bailey is about a year old. We rescued them from a bad home situation last fall. Pearl loves me. Bailey doesn't really like anyone, but tolerates me ... and lays eggs.
I hear the next step is usually waiting for the next one? =p
God bless,
~Scott
