ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE

see relatedWhen the atmospheric pressure over a particular area of land rises so that it is greater than the pressure of the surrounding areas, then a “high pressure cell” is formed. This high atmospheric pressure pushes clouds away from the area or causes them to dissipate, and this results in clear skies over the area. Sunlight and solar radiation are then able to reach the land, and this results in increased temperatures. As far as I know, this is how weather works. But what the hell do I know? I’m not Mark Krisky.
A high pressure cell loomed over southern California last week, and with it came clear blue skies, bright sunshine, and hot temperatures. Summer in southern California is generally enjoyable and pleasant, but last week’s late summer heat wave was nothing less than simply irritating. Perhaps it’s just me, but I think summer is overrated. I will admit that southern California enjoys the best summertime weather in the world, but I’m usually sick of it by mid-August. Being that it was early September and I was ready to pack up summer and send it away, last week’s heat wave was just ridiculous. I’m semi-convinced that Mother Nature has something against me. I don’t really know why I disdain summer so much, but it probably has to do with something like this: I’m a natural kind of guy (!), and, by nature, heat makes things unstable, tense, and irritated. Why can’t people see this?
I took the trash out last night at around 8:20 pm and felt something that I haven’t felt for a long time. I was actually a bit cold. Low pressure has settled over the Southland and the temperature has dropped significantly from last week. It’s September, and I was reminded that the change in season is just around the corner. Very soon the weather will turn cold, the skies will turn gray, and nightfall will come earlier. Rain will wash away the filth; wind will clear the air; the long nights will stimulate growth. The autumnal equinox is just a few weeks away, and Libra will usher in the seasons of art, balance, and beauty. When I took the trash out last night, there was a cool nighttime breeze which felt like a much needed breath of fresh air. It’s time to start all over again. It’s amazing how taking the trash out could be such an emotive experience.
As an individual born under the Sun of Gemini with a rising Cancer, my emotions wax and wane with the seasons. The tension and pressure from the summer months will be released soon.
This is my favorite time of the year.

I'd disagree and say that Northern California has the best summer weather, but the whole NorCal/SoCal thing is kind of ridiculous. Especially considering that I'm not even in California.
Fall is my favourite season. There's something very decadent about that last burst of colour and beauty before everything dies away for the winter.
