If anyone might be interested in donating some money to Back to School Night that would be great. We could always use more funds even though I think we did a pretty good job on fundraising so far. I think I've talked about what Back to School Night is but in case you didn't know here goes a description...
Back to School Night is an event hosted but the UA College of Medicine for 100 Southern AZ refugee children. These kids come from all over the world and age from 5-17. At the Back to School Night event, the kids are given a new set of clothes (shirt, pants, socks), shoes, backpack, and school supplies. This year, we are also giving them a bunch of toothbrushes and floss and other dental hygiene stuff. Most of the clothes are donated but the Back to School Night Coordinators (of which I'm one) fundraise throughout the year to have enough money to purchase any of the items that are not donated (i.e. shoes and backpacks most of the time). The event is a pretty fun one for the kids. We serve them a lovely dinner (pizza and all that good stuff), have games and entertainment along with lots of little prizes for them to take home along with their back to school supplies.
Anyways, if that's something you think you'd be interested in helping out with, let me know and I'll tell you how to donate money (unless you REALLY wanna send a huge box of clothes *hint hint*).
