Old People Rock

Elderly Ga. Man on Oxygen Foils Robbers

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Despite being 83 years old and reliant on oxygen tubes for a lung ailment, Harry Carpenter wouldn't let his wife of 57 years be robbed by knife-wielding intruders in his own home.

Two would-be robbers forced their way into the home of Carpenter and his wife, Jackie, Wednesday evening while the two were having dinner, according to a police report.

One of them made Harry Carpenter sit down in the sun room, while the other went with Jackie Carpenter, 80, to get money from her bedroom.

Carpenter tried to come to his wife's rescue but was threatened with the knife.

Then he got his break — his wife pretended to faint and the intruder who was holding him went into the other room to see what was happening.

Carpenter shuffled to the laundry room, where he kept an old, unloaded rifle that he used to shoot squirrels, he said.

When one of the intruders came back, he found Carpenter aiming the rifle at him and yelled at his companion to flee. Police were unable to locate the two suspects, who didn't get any money.

Awwww, isn't that sweet?!  I think they kind of saved each other.  (Or at least, their $$$)

I'm still sick, and does it ever sucketh.  And I have to go to Wal-Mart, which I'm not looking forward to.  I can't wait for the day when all you have to do is select your needs from an online list and have them delivered to your doorstep within an hour by a flying Wal-Mart deliveroboticmatica.  I mean, it'd be cool for, like, when you're sick, or really old, or really tired.  But I'd still want to go shopping myself, usually.  There's just something about staring at all those pretty, shiny things that you can't afford....

I've lost 1 and 1/2 pounds.  At least being sick has THAT silver lining.  wOOt!

Loved the story about the elderly people!  Quick thinking on their part!

Sorry you are not feeling well.  We have this grocery store in town that delivers, or you can have them shop for you and you can pick them up in the beverage drive thru attatched to the grocery store.  You just order everything online at their website.  And they call you when your groceries are ready.  It comes in handy when I am sick, or the kids are sick.

I agree, It would be cool if you could get Walmart to do that! lol

Take care, hope you feel better soon.

*haha*  Poor girl.  And yes, great story about the old couple.  I like old-couple-who-love-each-other stories.
