  • CLEAR MASCARA!

Well, I know that this is really trivial, but after looking and looking and looking, I finally found some clear mascara at Target, manufactured by "Elf." I was thrilled. I used to use it several years ago, and then it seemed like it was discontinued. I enjoyed using it because, now that I am older, dark makeup doesn't look so good on me. My brows and lashes are already dark, and my skin is kind of ruddy (maybe I have mild rosacea -- I'll have to ask the doc). But...I still enjoy the femininity of applying makeup. I find that these "clear" makeups like clear lip gloss, clear nail polish and clear mascara fit the bill. (They would probably fit the bill for a pre-teen who wants to wear makeup, if you approve!) So, anyway, I bought two tubes of the clear mascara by Elf, at only $1.00 per tube! It holds your eye-brows in place, too. Now, some older ladies look good in darker makeup. My grandmother colored her hair black and wore red lipstick and nail polish until the day she died, and looked good. I have found that since I let my hair go grey, lighter shades work best for me. I colored my hair for 10 years, but had to quit when the doctor put me on a thyroid medication. The medication made my hair grow a mile a minute (really!), so I could no longer keep up with coloring it -- I was having to color it ever two weeks! Too much trouble, too expensive, did not sound healthful. Oh, well, it was fun while it lasted! So, now I am grey-haired and not yet a granny! Everybody, have a nice day!

I like clear mascara, too!...I just wish with all the technology that they would come up with a hair color that last for at least 6 months instead of just 4 weeks!.....That even covers the gray that long!.......Hope you have a Great Day!......In Christ's Love.....Monic

Clear mascara is a nice idea! It would be nice too not to worry about having black streaks if your in the sun or at the beach! Thanks for sharing!!!

I used to have dark blond (or light brown) hair and have always had almost white and sparse eyelashes & eyebrows.  Now my hair is white (platinum) and everything matches.  Not being satisfied to look like a blank canvas, I use that rinse out color (Fanci Full by Roux) in "Bashful Blond" on my roots - the lightest color they make.  It makes a big difference from the platinum stark white.  I use a tinge of dry brush medium brown mascara to add color to my lashes without it looking like make up and I use a sable eyebrow pencil very lightly.

My daughter wonders why I bother at all (considering I used to wear a ton of make up), but I can tell a difference in the color with just those few adjustments.

When people began to ask me if I felt alright, I knew I was looking too pale!

@cherylyn_p - Cool ideas. We have to be creative, don't we?

@magvoice - Yes! It would be nice if it lasted longer! Boy, it was a shock for me to go grey. I would never have done it if it hadn't been for the Synthroid. I have not heard of that medication doing that to other people, but my hair grew a mile a minute! Lots of women do not look good with grey hair, which is why I colored mine. But, I'm lucky, the grey does not look as bad on me as I feared. It took forever to grow it out, and all I could do was skin it back in a clip. My sister-in-law cautioned me about using semi-permanent color during the transition, as it can permanently stain hair. So, I went around two-toned for a good long time. It finally grew out and I am happy now.

That's a different experience... I have been on thyroid medication for 15 years (needed it before then but didn't realize) and my hair barely grows... but it sure does fall out everywhere!

... looking forward to the new body that Jesus will make for me

@new_creation_in__christ - Boy, ain't that the truth! Our new bodies will be glorious! Your hair looks ok -- don't worry! I don't have to take synthroid any more. I was taking 25 mil., but then the pharmacy said they couldn't get that dosage any more, so I was told to take a 50 mil. pill and cut it in half. That didn't work. Instead of running at 100%, I was running at about 98%. But, I didn't really feel bad. So, I just stopped taking it. Nothing bad happened. I had my thyroid checked at the doctor's office and it was normal. I chalk up this up to getting through the change of life. Maybe once I was through menopause, I got my equilibrium back. Who knows. It is nice not to have to take it. But if I have to take it again, believe me, I will know. Unlike you, when I first had the thyroid problem, I felt like I had mono and I ran to the doctor. They diagnosed thyroid disease right away -- tired all the time and gaining weight. I can't believe it went back to normal. Usually, that doesn't happen. Normally, people have to take Synthroid for life, and many have to have the dosages re-adjusted constantly. Oh, well...thanks for replying, and have a nice evening!

I've used clear mascara for years on my eyebrows. It's made by Cover Girl and sold at Walmart. It's usually a little hard to spot...clear down by the floor.

@joy4jesus424 - Thanks! I'll remember that. Nice to see you.

I wanted to comment about the clear mascara as I've seen it but never have used it.  I will look for it in WalMart as there are several in the Monterrey, Mexico area.  (selfish of me to ask your "friends"...But,) Will you all please pray for me to find an English speaking church?? (one of God's children)  Thank you.

@mrschristianwojociechowski - Love you, Diane. Yes, we will surely be praying. Hope my Xanga friends will pray for you, too.
