Experiencing God
When I am reading a book, a lot of times I will write down bits and pieces from it as I read. I guess I am a visual learner and have to have it in front of me for me to remember. Anyway, I found this stuck in my Bible yesterday:
"How sad that it is possible to know God but never truly experience God."
Don't know who said it, wrote it, or whatever, but it sure makes a lot of sense to me....
Here's another one written on the same slip of paper:
"I"ve learned my strength is not found in how intensly I struggle,...but in how completely I surrender." Ken Gire
Just thought I'd share since I got a chance at the computer.

Last week, I barely got on the computer. My hip has been such a pain (no pun intended), that I was afraid to sit down in here because I couldn't get up by myself. And since I am here so much of the time alone, I figured I'd just better not even try! I can see myself calling on neighbors to come help me get out of Daniel's computer chair!!!
Well, Quincy took me to the doctor Tuesday about my twisted knee. Yep, that what it is all right....twisted. A good, acute twisting. It was really inflamed, but thankfully nothing is broken or chipped. The doctor put a corisone shot under the kneecap (that will be one shot I remember for a while!), and it is much better now. Thank you Lord! It has been a long few weeks around here! I guess I have been favoring that knee so much to get some of the pressure off my hip. At any rate, I go back later this month to see about my hip replacement... or whatever else they may can do. Not looking forward to it, but still looking forward to some pain relief.
We had a wonderful Fourth. Please, if you get a chance, go by http://xanga.com/gmcdaniel85 's site and look at his pictures. He posted several, and also did a good Fourth of July post. We spent part of the day with family in Wrightsville. It's strange... We have been married almost 30 years. During that time, our little Wrightsville group has dwindled down to only around 12 or 13. We have lost 7 in the past years to death. It just makes me more aware every year of how precious family and friends are.
Our community/church get together was the night of the Fourth at the home of some friends. It used to be just a community get together, but when your neighbor is also your preacher, lots of folks start getting invited. It turned out well, and the weather was absolutely wonderful. The entire day was great. I, for one, am extremely grateful to the LORD for allowing us to live in this country, even with its problems... The LORD has been so gracious to me, my family, my friends, and my church. We are blessed more than we will ever know!
Today we (Quincy, Daniel, and myself) went out to lunch with some friends to celebrate one of their daughter's 21st birthday (they have 6 daughters). We went to a Japanese restaurant.... I've never been to one like this before. It was GREAT! I really didn't know what to expect (they cooked the food at your table) , but I sure did enjoy myself. It was amazing to me to watch them cook and act like nuts at the same time! Now that I have finally tried this place, I'm more likely to go again. Daniel has been trying to take me there for months; he and some of his friends have been there several times. I just have always been too "chicken". But, that place will now be on one of the main places to go when we go out! Quincy even seemed to enjoy it, and it's HARD to get him to try anything other than traditional, good old Southern cooking. But the way I look at it, we have that EVERYDAY at home, since that's the only way I know how to cook. When we go out, I want something different! So, Quincy and I had our horizons expanded today, and it sure was nice.
Summer is in full swing around here now. We are busy with selling our butterbeans and peas (I resell them from South Georgia). This will be my second order tomorrow, and dear old Quincy will again be doing all the work. It will be a big order, but hopefully everyone will come pick them up as they are supposed to. I'm just glad Quincy's schedule is flexible now that he is retired. God must have worked that out too! Ain't God good???
Hope everyone is doing well. Will try to catch up on your posts as soon as I can!

Fired my Xanga Manager
Well, I finally got nasty and threatened to fire my Xanga manager... Yes, that's right. I sent my son an e-mail and told him if he did not upload my 2 new quilt pictures that I was going to fire him from his very high paying, highly prestigious job. So, guess what? He posted them! He knew he'd lose a good thing if he got fired!! You know, it would probably be easier for him to sit down one afternoon and teach me how to upload pictures, but he has all the cables, etc. Plus, he takes that little chip thing out of my camera and pops it into his laptop without a cable and then does the rest whenever it so strikes him.... At any rate, since I haven't been on here in a few days, I did get a baby quilt finished that I started several months ago. The baby was born in May, a beautiful baby by the way, but I never finished his quilt. So, I gave him the one I made at my quilting class that was already finished and then just finished the first one last week. So here they are:
This is the one that I started and got bored with. It was a very easy pattern, but just boring.... It will be the first quilt I have made to donate to the Crisis Pregnancy Center.
When I went to see my pictures that my son had uploaded, he hadn't uploaded the one I did for Nicole, his friend that had the baby in May. Whenever he finds it in the multitude of his pictures, maybe he will load it up for me too.
The second quilt Daniel posted is the one a young friend of mine is working on with me. She comes up here on Wednesday nights and works on it while her father goes to the men's meeting at our church. We hope to get the binding on it next Wednesday. I think she is doing a great job!
So until later, these are a few of my quilts. Hopefully, we'll find the one that has been lost in cyberspace somewhere and I can post it. I thought it turned out really good; it was the one we learned how to use a walking foot on... I sure did enjoy that class!
This is a picture of a quilt I made about 2 years ago for my great nephew. All of our family are Georgia fans.... Had to do a little something special for our newest bulldog!

I can't remember what type of border I put on it and this isn't a picture of the whole thing. Evidently I just took one close-up. But anyway... it was a fun quilt. So, until I can get Daniel to find the one I made Nicole, these will have to do.
P.S. Have no idea why my words are in different colors.... maybe I'll have to talk to my manager again!
