  • Life Couldn't be Better!

Last night, my wonderful dear brother (www.xanga.com/jimwilloughby) and his wife came down for supper.  He came early enough, with camera in hand, to take a few flower pictures. Guess we both get our love for flowers from Mama.  Anyway, he got several good shots and Daniel got to show him some of the "ropes" on sizing pictures to put on Xanga.  While they were doing that, I got the table set, and had everything ready when my husband informed me that the chicken was not done.  That is not good!  Especially when your husband has spent probably 40 years in the food service industry and knows that raw chicken is a definite NO! NO!  Anyway, we had to finish cooking my dumb old chicken and by then, everything else got cold. We ate it anyway, and had a really nice visit together.  They stayed a good long while, and we had a good time being together.

Later on,  when I was going to bed (around 11:00), I noticed lights out in our back yard.  We live far enough out in the country to know that if there are lights in your yard at night, either someone is doing something they shouldn't be doing or else they need something.  Quincy went to the door and was told that there was a horse in the road.  Being that one neighbor has probably 10 horses, the other two have only 1 each, and we have only 1, we kind of figured it must be the neighbor with the herd across the street.  So, Daniel and Quincy got up (in their shorts...and it was pretty cool by then) with flashlights to go looking for horses. Daniel found her first, but she took off running up the side of the highway.  I called the neighbor for help, and the ones who owned the horse came.  Of all the horses they own, this is the ONLY one that has had absolutely no training.  Now, this is unusual since their oldest son is a horse trainer., but this horse has just never had anyone spend any time with her.  So, when they got to her....she ran again.  Thankfully, when the owners got there,  they brought food!  Sweet feed usually will lure almost any horse or donkey...or so it seems.  They got her back into the pasture and blocked her escape route with a rope.  I think she has known enough electric fence to stay away from anything that might resemble it.  At least our horse it that way.  I haven't heard of any other "escapes", so I guess it did o.k. until they got the fence repaired today;  So, we had a late night getting to bed.

This morning, I woke up too early for comfort   4:50 A.M.  I was supposed to get up at 5:30, which was O.K. because I had a good reason!  I went to a quilting class today with 2 friends.  There are no classes anywhere around here, so we drove 2 hours to attend.  WE HAD A BLAST!  It was a beginner's class, but I wanted to learn "the basics" the right way.  I have my own way of doing things, but wasn't sure I was doing it right.  So since I found some folks to go with me, I jumped at the chance.  The people at this quilt shop are the nicest I have ever seen.  They were very helpful, didn't try to push fabric or gadgets or anything on us, and were just plain downright NICE.  We all had a great time.  We got our little quilts cut out and partially pieced.  We have two more classes and should have a baby quilt or wallhanging completed when we finish the class.  I had wanted to be taught how to do things correctly because I have a dear sweet young lady coming here once a week working on her first quilt.  Since I am learning, maybe I can teach her better.  What fun!

Hope your day was as grand as mine!  But, I bet you couldn't have enjoyed it any better!

Oh, man! What an ordeal!!! (I'm grateful I don't have to worry about this happening to me...but I miss my baby-girl)Glad you had a good time today at your class.

    Good morning

Wow, what an eventful day.  I'm sure the Rogers were grateful for the help in corraling the horse.  And about the quiliting - if you're not doing it the right way, you sure could have fooled me.  Kaitlyn loves the quilt that you made her and that is what she sleeps with every night.  If we don't cover her up with it, she gets it herself and cuddles with it.  I'm glad everything is going great with ya'll.

    Love Ya!

My goodness the meal was great. it was a little cold, but i I can't see how it caused all this midnight madness. I can hardly wait  to chase horses in my underwear. I would think that anybody with a name like Rogers could train his horse to "come, fetch, sit, tap to ten with you left rear foot. Gene Autrey would be disgusted.

I now will likely have  recurring dreams about all this . You should suggest it as a  new skill of interest to the folks who prepare the Redneck games in one of our fair cities not to far away from you.  I won't to do it without a flashlight because I be modest. Also, please notice that I spelled Redneck with a capital letter. I'm sorry if I disappoint anybody's Theology, Geometry or world view, but I enjoy am a student  of Redneck culture. Today,o n my morning walk, I came a Redneck truck that was truly of interest. So I walked back  to the house and got my camera and went back. Being savvy, I'll take it with me tomorrow and I won't have to do as much walking-(Dr. said it was good for everything-waling, not the camera)  I have an interesting group of pictures for my next blog, post, comment, or general statement. I think Xanga needs a category called "General statements."
I am so glad you had fun at the quilting bee, Aunt Bee, tee hee, tee hee. As a quiltist, can you teach me to be a quiltor? Roosevelt Greer, a very fine football quilted for relaxation, fun and whatever else ya'll  do it for. I have a picture of a quilt that I saw in Tenn. If I can find it I think you would enjoy seeing it. It was being used as a wall decoration in a motel in Johnsonborough Tenn. I may have the city wrong, and I couldn't spell it for two dollars,  but I'll check that while I'm looking for the picture. .Ya'll sure have fun out there lin the country with those late night games seems to me.I'm going find my flashlight and "Come on Down." He retired don't cha know.
