The other day the guy who said I needed a new well came and put a new diaphragm in the pump. Water pressure is back up but I am still saving my tubs of water just in case.
The second time the well guy was here I was out in the pump room watching him and he noticed a mild dripping leak. He said the pump casing probably had a crack. I looked at it hunted down the leak and I told him it was the diaphragm. He asked if I wanted him to order one. Well of course. I am not putting a new well in if it's only a $10 part. Sheesh!.(Mia read this and said "yeah right I'm not gonna pay that much!") kids so funny.
A week later the pump lost prime for about the 5th time and when I got it pressured up I noticed the tiny hole that lets the diaphragm breath had water shooting out of it instead of just dripping. So I shut down the power to the pump called the guy and left him a message that I needed the part NOW. That was on a Friday, on Monday he stopped into my work( I wasn't there yet) and dropped off an estimate for the well DH was at work but I was still home DH told him I was home and he could come talk to me but he said he didn't want to. DH told him we needed the part and he said it would be in that afternoon. The next day he came and put in the diaphragm. Of course first he called the shop and talked to DH because "he knew I was mad at him" Yeah right, mad, why bother. What did he think I was going to do yell, scream and stomp my feet in protest of his procrastination.
When I was first having trouble with all this I called my brother and asked him some questions knowing he had just done some pump stuff at his house, My bro told me to hire some one who had already made their money and that he had never heard of a screen in the well having a capsule around it by sand/or some thing. I called another place and talked to the lady that answered the phone and she said she had never heard of that either(but she wasn't the person who actually worked on the stuff). Still if you work a in a business you usually know th general issues of that biz. I did find some capsule stuff online but only one or two references to it.
I am glad (so far) that I hesitated and didn't put in the well right away(not that I could afford it anyway) but I just had a feeling I didn't need a new well. Especially since we had a new screen put in back in october 07.
I wonder if the guy just didn't know what was wrong or if he was trying to make some money, or of the pump will keep losing prime.
I guess only time will tell.

LOGICAL THINKING...but has nothing to do with reality
Most jobs i work at i can figure out the whole operation in two weeks, and most times they're doing it wrong!!! My favourite example though---i once went to a McDonald's and the change thing on the register wasn't working and the cashier was freaking out & called the manager and HE had to run back to his office to get a calculator to figure out how to give change
