  • The Weather

"TOKYO (AFP) - Japan may be at the cutting edge of green technologies, but its capital has the least environmentally conscious residents of eight of the world's richest cities, a poll showed.

More than four in 10 Tokyo residents -- 41.6 percent -- said they "don't want to sacrifice a convenient lifestyle to prevent global warming," according to the poll results published recently by Japanese advertising agency Hakuhodo."

Good they shouldn't have to. It's a hoax. Here's another news story that didn't run on my newscast because of its crap level.

The story is about pandas being protected by the Endangered Species Act because of global warming. Yes, we are protecting animals because of an unscientific phenomenon. Here is the actual direct quote from the story.

"Global warming pollution is driven by fossil fuel consumption, it's driven by coal and oil and gas, it's driven by the cars we drive. And until we get a hold of that reality, polar bears are gonna remain endangered."

I didn't make that up. It was actually presented to me to put that mindless drivel in a newscast. I'm not gonna change my way of life every time somebody comes up with a cause, especially when it doesn't exist. You can call it global warming, climate change, climate crisis, I don't care. I like to refer to it as a climate cycle. People are now saying that there will be record levels of global cooling soon.Wait a minute, but I thought.... oh crap, does that mean I need to drive my car more? We better build more coal plants. We gotta do something about this people. We are in a crisis and we need to change our way of life. Ahhhhhhh.....

Do you know what you get when you have global warming and global cooling? You guessed it, the weather.

  • The (racist) hope of 50 years ago.

Well, it looks like hope is fading. Turns out Barack Obama isn't the best thing since sliced bread. Suddenly, some non conservative people, you know, the ones whose opinion matters, demanded some accountability. They didn't really get it, but they thought they did. Turns out Old Barry's pastor is a racist bigot. Said a lot of things he shouldn't have. After extensive pressure, Barack came back with a fantastic speech. Best thing since Lincoln. Except he was forced to do it and it was a load of crap. Media bought it though. What they have failed to bite on, not surprisingly, is something else he said. Barack mentioned his grandmother fearing black men in his wonderful speech. He tried to explain that comment yesterday on a radio show.

Quote: "The point I was making was not that my grandmother harbors any racial animosity. But she is a typical white person. If she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know. . .there's a reaction in her that doesn't go away and it comes out in the wrong way."

Gee, Barack, am I a typical white person? In other words, am I a racist? I thought you didn't want race to be an issue. But you changed all that when you made your whole speech about race. You changed all that when you referred to the majority of white people as racists. Your chance of being president may not be completely gone, but it's darn close. Boy, I hope the typical white people don't take the election away from you, but they just might.

  • The "Liberal" Republican

John McCain really has no cojones. Not right now anyway. This week he accepted the endorsement of Christian evangelist John Hagee. Finally he found a conservative Christian supporter. Had a big press conference, made a big deal out of it. Then after two days of criticism due to Mr. Hagee's Christian based views, backed down from it. Earlier in the week, radio talk show host Bill Cunningham repeatedly used Barack Hussein Obama's middle name during a speech warming up a McCain rally crowd. Intentional, I would say yes. Out of line, no. It is his middle name. It's fair game. Without even hearing the comments McCain immediately denounced them. Any criticism from the left and McCain melts. Why? Because he is a liberal. Maybe not on every issue, certainly not as much as Barack Obama, but still a liberal. He actually referred to himself as a "liberal Republican."

In my opinion, Republicans just kind of settled on McCain as a candidate. Nobody stepped up to the plate as a conservative this year and McCain seemed to have the most experience. He had/has the greatest chance of winning the general election. I personally thought Fred Thompson would have done an excellent job, but I don't think he could have won. Unfortunately, nobody anticipated Obama becoming the cult hero. Barring a Clinton machine election steal, which could possibly happen, he will be McCain's opponent. When and if he does, two things will be necessary to win. One, Ralph Nadar will have to garner a decent amount of votes. Those will definitely come from Barry. However, they won't come as easy as they did in 2000.  Two, Obama's inexperience and lack of substance will have to be placed on the table for the public to see. If, between now and November, John McCain can find his manhood and go after Mr. Obama like he went after the rest of the Republican candidates in the primary, he may have a shot. However, if he continues on the Straight Talk Denouncement Express, he is toast.

  • Snow

It's snowing in Georgia. Second time in a week. You would think the apocalypse came. This isn't what you would think of as snow. There's not much freezing, no accumulation. The roads barely stay wet. Nevertheless, most churches are canceled for tomorrow. And most of them were canceled by 2:00 pm today (Saturday). Unbelievable.
