| A Million ThanksGreat news! Brownie is home! Thank you all so, so much for expressing your hope and kind words towards her. I especially thank you for having her in your prayers. It just comes to show the miracles that prayer can do, no matter who/what you pray to. She's still in a lot of pain, and can't really move right yet, but at least she's happier now that she's home. It's hard to get her to go to the bathroom, since she barely gained back the ability to do so by herself. She's also gotten a lot skinner, but we can definitely change that =). Healing will probably take AT LEAST months, but we have all the hope in the world. Our baby's backkk!
Brownie says "I woof you!"

| Pray A week ago, Brownie was in an accident where she was hit by a car. She was taken into the emergency room and then transferred to a pet hospital, where she's been staying for a week now. We thought she was progressively getting better since her lungs were healing, and her breathing was stable. Today we drove back up because the Vet told us to come in to discuss things. We found out that she's actually not doing too well...with severe pelvis and nerve damage. The surgery, which costs thousands of dollars, is not guaranteed to fix her anymore. It might just give her a chance. And of course, without financing available, we are unable to afford her surgery. So our last bet right now (before you know...) is to hope that within the next few days, a miracle happens and her body will somehow begin to heal on its own... God, I saw her today, and it was just so heartbreaking I didn't realize I loved that thing so much. If you do any sort of praying, I ask if you could just please keep her in your prayers. Thanks guys. <3 |

| There are certain things I'm not comfortable with and am slightly bothered by, but i don't know how to bring it up without coming off like a completely crazy bitch.
Wording is so critical.

| Biology +1 Every time i read my Bio book, i get very discouraged because there is just so much information that i don't really care about. And I ask myself...what the hell am i doing?! But thennnn, every once in a blue moon, in between memorizing all the body parts, glands, and regulatory systems, the text throws out a few lines that has something directly related to Pharmacy. This is the only time, my friends, that i actually get all excited and eager to learn more.
For example, earlier tonight while i was reading about the endocrine system, i learned about these chemical messengers called local regulators. I'll spare you the details, but basically local regulators bind to their specific receptors and trigger events within a target cells similar to those caused by hormones; only it happens a lot faster than with hormones because it doesn't have to circulate through the blood system first. An important local regulator is the gas Nitric Oxide (NO). One interesting role that it plays is in male sexual function by increasing blood flow into the penis thus producing an erection. Highly reactive and potentially toxic, NO usually triggers changes in a target cell within a few seconds of contact and then breaks down. The infamous drug, Viagra, is a treatment for male erectile "dysfunction". It interferes with the breakdown of NO, therefore keeps the blood flowing, which in turn sustains the erection. Cool, right?
Tiny tidbits of facts like this are my little glistens of hope. Hope that perhaps, somehow, I can make it to that stupid Rotunda one day. Drugs and their effects are definitely interesting to me, but to be honest, the rest of that Bio stuff....ugh. I know, I know...I have to learn about the stupid human body and how it works before I can know what type of drug does what, but I wish there was just some chip or something that can be surgically implemented into my brain with all the important "pre-knowledge" that I need. Ah, okay it's getting late, and I'm starting to think crazy thoughts. Back to studyinggg.
On the bright side, now that I've written down what local regulators do, I will (hopefully) get it right on my exam.
