Sabah, Day 2 (June 11, 2008)Day 2 We started our day with a very rush breakfast... coz we were so lazy getting up! Didn't really have time to "enjoy" the dinner... then, we headed towards the SeaQuest, the company that took us to the "islands." It's located inside the Sutera Hotel Complex. And guess who we saw there at the Pier? Mon Ka Wai (Ekin Cheng's girlfriend) and her friends. They were heading to the Sapi island. And for us, first stop ... Manutkan Island... heard a lot of good things about this island... so let's try not to disappoint ourselves with our first island visit! Getting there didn't take very long... the jet was speedy! A great transportation tool! Wish I'd own one in the future! The speedy ride!
The first thing we did on the island was to pay the entrance fees, coz it was acutally part of the government owned National Park, which is composed of 5 islands (Manutkan and Sapi are 2 of them). Then, we went over to rent some snorkeling equipments. First stop... Manutkan
We found a spot on the not-too-crowded beach, and we headed to sea for some actions! Being snorkeling amateurs, we had hard times getting the fins on! (See picture below) We were also not used to all those little rocks and sands getting stuck in our fins... quite uncomfy actually. But snorkling experience was quite nice... saw some fish crowds... asking for food... but we didn't have food with us... sorry... maybe next time? Hardly putting the fins on...
Fully equiped!
Exhausted after snorkeling or just annoyed by the rocks in the fins?
After about half an hour messing around, we headed back for some hardcore sunbathing! But how stupid we were... after snorkeling, we didn't re-applied any lotion! Guess what happened to our skins by the end of the day? I'll tell you later. Let us look at some nice sunbathing pix first! "Sun and Beach"... as they said. Self-taken photo

After an hour under the sun, we headed to snorkel for a second time. And then, we took the boat to another island... Sapi! At the Manutkan pier before boarding, we noticed a lot of fish neatly lining up waiting for food! The theory of evolution... Fish "fishing" for food right next to the pier
 Next stop... Sapi
On Sapi, again, we had to pay the entrance fees. At the entrance, we decided to buy one of those disposable water-proof camera to capture our snorkeling actions! But before we started out water activities, we were too hungry to go on. So, we had a beach picnic... burger, sandwiches, and malay iced milk tea! Picnic on the beach
We decided to rest a bit and then go for our third snorkeling expedition. And this time, we were ready to feed the fish! We had taken some breads from the hotel breakfast place, split them and put them into a water bottle. Here're some of our feeding pix! Feeding expedition

 Watering
After staying there for about 3.5 hours, we took the last boat back to the hotel. Guess who were riding with us? That's right, Mon Ka Wai and her friends. Sapi at sunset
 Byebye Sapi!
Headed back to the hotel, we showered... and without noticing it at the first, our skins were so red and they hurt so bad when taking the showers. Took some pix at the balcony, and then headed towards the city for food! At balcony... and getting tan
Enjoying the sunset
Tonight dinner took place at the famous "Twinsky Seafood." The place was really quite intersting, it was an open-area food court with numerous other mini-food-stands surrounding the food court. In other words, while being seated at the tables of the Twinsky Seafood, you would also be able to enjoy different kinds of food from these other little food stands. I personally enjoyed those foods from the stands more than the seafood... :P Twinsky Seafood... we've been there!
Many types of seafood to choose from
See below for the food we had. The local Malay drink... what's this called again? Quite nice.

Before heading back to the hotel, we shopped at a local grocery store for some authentic junk food. Look what I found? Mamee's drinks! Never seen this in HK. Got me very excited coz I really like the Mamee noodles! Mamee...
Headed back to hotel and got some good rests for the exciting day that followed. That's a wrap for our second day in Sabah! |
