Stars: "What's the big deal?"
How important are they, really? Many Xangans, including some I know, want stars very badly. A question I ask myself, while thinking about this, and many of you probably ask this too, "Why do you want starts on your posts, so badly? For popularity? To be a featured weblog?" While I ask this question, I also tend to think, "Wait. Maybe you don't want stars for the sake of having everybody read them, and getting thousands commenting obsessively. You want stars because you feel your writing deserves to be read, and it's good enough to be featured. It's good enough to make people want to continue reading your blog because they truly notice your writing skills, and how passionate you are about writing."
After asking these questions and discussing our thoughts, among ourselves - we come to two very different conclusions about stars. There are people who want them to be popular, and there are people who deserve them and want their work to be recognized. Now that our conclusions having been stated clearly, I'm wondering how many people belong to each conclusion, and their explanation for that conclusion (even though they may be self-explanitory). Maybe, it's just curiosity. Or maybe, it's something more. Who knows?
What I do know is that I've decided in this post, that I'm going to pick my own star (which is of course, way different than Xanga's definition of "stars," but this is my world here). This star is an incredible writer, very straightforward, and always gives 110% on her posts. She has a great talent that deserves to be recognized, one that truly deserves stars. I present to you my very first "Star," antisoccermom. Congratulations!
Your prize includes:
A "1,000 eProps" mini, on one of your very deserving posts.

Oooh, interesting!
what kind of stars? like stars in the sky or like celebs?
@itsme_parishilton111 - Neither. They're stars that rate your posts, here on Xanga.
I never pay any attention to stars on here. I just like posting and commenting on my friend's blogs! lol
haha well thank you
<3Just
oh good choice fro your first star presentation.
wow. Thank you SO much! I am blown away at this, thank you.
We get stars now?
I had to come and reread this, since I was drinking last night. Anyway, I really appreciate you taking the time to write that out. I don't care how many friends I have, I just want to write. I know, for myself, that getting consistent feedback makes me a better writer, and I crave that. Writing is what I do, and I love it.
Thank you for writing this, and linking me. I feel like xangalebrity.
I would prefer the star system be based on actual writing skills, or making people laugh, anything other than who is popular. Antisoccermom is a great writer, so I am glad you featured her here. :)
The best part about xanga that tops all other networking sites is that all the fake people quit xanga for myspace. Now there's just awesome real people.
This is very cool! :) And so very true.
I like her post too. I just joined xanga when all the star stuff was going on. I kept saying stars? What stars? How does that work? I'd love my writing to touch more hearts, but I've found that bloggers do find you if you keep putting it out there. I write because I can't keep it in. Nice post yourself! "anti" refered you. Breathe deep. Lyne
I do not usually pay much attention to the number of stars I recieved for an entry.
I like to get stars because I'd like to be featured, but I'd like to be featured so I can get more comments. I like comments because I like discussion, and so the more comments that make me think, the happier I will be, featured or not. I rarely notice how many stars I get, but I know that they have something to do with the featured page... so I'd like more. lol
