Art
Being an artist is not just about painting. Art is the way you live your life! A long time ago, I heard that saying "If your life was a movie would anyone want to see it?" That really stuck with me. I've known people of all walks of life who live like it's a chore, dragging from one task to the next. Then, there are people who tackle life with enthusiasm and creativity and a sense of humor - that's living as an artist! Whether or not I ever pick up a paintbrush again (and I did paint last night btw), my life is my work of art. It's in the way I train my animals and the way I cook dinners. It's in the way I choose my friends and spend my time. I try to appreciate every moment as though it's the only one I have. Everything has to be done in moderation and in its own time.
I'm still painting and sewing - I'm just spending more attention on detail which makes production very slow.

More power to you! You encourage us non-artists out there to be more like you. I do not live life like it is a chore, but I don't think I'm yet capturing everything I can with as much vigor as I know you do. Thanks for inspiring and for being who you are to make this place groovier.

I'm pretty confident my life movie would not get greenlighted by any studio. But your philosophy is spot on. Expression is what we make of it.

I love your perspective! I have been told that my life should be made into a movie, I don't know if it's art, but it makes people laugh.

That is how I view my songs. I feel they are my legacy, and my songbook will be passed down the family line (at least that is my wish). My copier tech job is just a means of providing income.

Dear Ocean,

I agree 1000%. I've always said that "art exists" and the artist is merely the person who points it out for us. (I believe I once read about Michelangelo that he "saw" the sculpture "inside" the block of marble.) I used to use the "movie" metaphor for my own life. "This is my movie." And when I created the first page of what has now become www.allthingsmike.com almost ten years ago one of the taglines for my website was, and still is "an electronic experiment in art."

I also believe that the internet, and computers, with their myriad programs, help to inspire and enhance artistic endeavor and creativity amongst people who might not consider themselves "creative." Even postioning media and images on a blog entry is artistic as far as I'm concerned.

Here's to art, and to you, my dear.

@baldmike2004 - I have always appreciated the way you present all aspects of your life in an artistic manner whether it's something conventionally beautiful or just a story from your past. It's a cool mindset you have
@FogOfConfusion - I'm not much into competition, but I really appreciate the compliment! I spent a lot of time getting the design here like I want it.
