  • Small update:

Spent yesterday doing laundry and napping. I never nap. I woke up from said nap because I thought there was an earthquake. I heard a rattling noise and the bed was shaking a little. It felt like the beginning of an earthquake. It didn't seem too bad, so I decided to stay in bed for a second and see if it got worse.

I rolled over an discovered that the shaking was my cat scratching his ear. The rattling was Mack moving things in her room.

Today I'm writing and trying to clean my desk. Not having a lot of success at either. I'm making BBQ Beans and Polish sausage in the crock pot. It smells really good.

My sister was supposed to have labor induced on Friday, but the doctor decided against it. She is miserable and they are concerned about her blood pressure and the placenta. Why in the hell they don't just either induce or do a C-section is beyond me. She is about 2 weeks from her due date. My sister doesn't want to be pushy with the doctor, but in my experience they don't really do anything if you aren't assertive, and it sounds like there are some real problems. I'm worried.

I read John Grisham's book Bleachers yesterday. Terrible. Started Life of Pi--I started it before we went to Florida and didn't get very far, so decided to start it over. No opinion yet as I'm about 1/10th of the way through it.

Glad you weren't having an earthquake. Didn't northern CA have some recently? Sorry to hear about your sister. That's the worst - did they do an ammnio to check the baby's lungs. That was the issue when I was waiting for my first born. Hope its soon for her and goes well!

Yes, one has to be one's own health advocate.

I hope things are otherwise going good for you. How did the camp work out? I apologize if I missed the post about its effect on your daughter.

LOL - that's hilarious about the "earthquake"! Good thing it wasn't a real one, though :-|

I hope your sister and her baby are OK :]

earthquake, cat scratching its ear.....same difference.

Never having experienced an earthquake, I cannot intelligently compare....I HAVE, however, had indigestion after too much spicy food....sometimes that can shake you up just as bad!

Life of Pi is on my list of the books I've enjoyed most in the world.  I hope you enjoy it too!

She needs to be assertive, they are serving her and she is paying.  Grrrrrrrrrr!  I hope they get on it.  I know she must be miserable.

I've started Life of Pi twice already, but never managed to get on with it. Don't know why. I keep wanting to give it another shot, but there's always something else to read. So I've decided that when I get stranded on a desert island, I'll take it with me. :)

I'm not sure I agree with pushing the doctor.  My sister pushed her doctor and so he gave in... and they induced her and her body wasn't ready... so they had a c-section (c-sections aren't common in my family... our family had ALLL natural births - no drugs).  I know your sister has other issues that warrant her wanting the baby out now, but sometimes nature has a way of doing things right.  All I can say is that my sister regrets pushing her doctor so much....

I loved the book! The exposition was torturously long, but worth it in the end, I thought.
