I'm moving to the couch to try to get a few more words in before I fall asleep. It looks like I will make it for sure, as I am at 45,014. My goal for the day was to get to 45K so I feel really good about that.
Stephen King writes about 10,000 words a day, according to his book On Writing. I don't know how the hell he does it. Today's total is the most I've ever written in one day. I can't imagine doing that every day.
There are a lot of things I need to do to the next draft. This first draft has some problems. I hope the next draft might be semi-presentable.
I feel great about achieving my goal (assuming I do). But I think I've written the world's most boring novel.

Somehow I think you haven't.
Wow ! I managed 6000 in one day and thought THAT was good !
Keep it up mate - not far to go now!
Stephen King writes 10,000 words/day? But what else does he have to do during the day? His wife cooks, cleans and does laundry... well maybe she doesn't, they probably have live-in help. The point being writing is his profession, and you have other stuff interferring. You'll make your 50,000 words.
A. wixer is right about the King situation. You should get a wife, too.
B. His work in the last decade (or so) is not brilliant, which makes perfect sense. The men writes like a robot, and we rule him out as a role model.
C. I'm sure there was a better way to say B. I need coffee. Excuse me. :)
I'm sure your novel is great! You have done such a great job sticking to your goal!
Will your novel end at 50,000 words?
Stephen King is prolific, and not all his work is great, but the fact that he gets so much out means that there is a better chance that something is good...
