Amazon has the trains in stock today. They didn't last night, when I first wrote that entry. Thanks to
balticblond for checking.
I have one in my shopping cart, but am going to try Target again on my lunch hour because Amazon charges $5.99 for gift wrapping, and I'm nothing if not cheap. According to the Target website, one of my local stores might have it in stock.
My debit card got stuck in a parking meter in downtown Portland yesterday. I hate those new parking meters. I don't like putting $1.25 on my debit card. I had to call the city (a nightmare) and I had to cancel my card and order a new one from the bank. I can't get the one I had before, the green one. I have to get one with a scene. The lady rattled off a bunch of choices, like Minnesota Timberwolves (WTF?), tie-dye, motorcycles, and beach. I told her I didn't care, to give me whichever one she liked best. Now I'm kind of excited to see what I get.
Last night Alex had basketball practice, and I took this library book by Augusten Burroughs. I'm actually reading a book by James Ellroy, but I didn't want to take it because it's big and bulky and it's hard to concentrate in the gym with all that noise. I figured something lighter and less dense would be better. Anyway, I haven't read Running With Scissors (I lent my copy (which someone gave me) to someone before I read it, and they never gave it back) or anything else by Burroughs, and I don't find him all that funny so far. The stories are kind of interesting, but not particularly funny. Unfortunately for him, comparisons to David Sedaris are inevitable.
Here is a
cool story about a baseball card.
