  • I hate it when someone says something that is totally not what they meant, and then they blame me in a totally backhanded way. Such as:

    Mr. S asked for name tags for a luncheon. He wanted me to use shipping labels and cut them down so there was no extra space.

    It turns out that what he wanted was place cards to put on the table, not labels for the people to stick to their shirts (so why he asked for shipping labels, I don't know). He launched into his "I guess I need to be more articulate" speech, which is code for "you are obviously too stupid to understand what I mean." Which is true, because it was kind of like if he'd said he wanted me to change the toner in the copier, when what he really wanted was for me to fix a paper jam.

    I am really, really on edge today. I feel like I've had about 400 cups of coffee and I haven't had any.
