I've been busy the last couple of days. The kids' basketball practices are in full swing again, and I have to drive them four nights a week. Tomorrow is the start of games, which should be interesting. Mack is less than enthused about basketball this year, and Alex isn't enjoying her team much. Mack just wants to get to spring so she can play tennis, and Alex is the smallest kid on her team, so she plans to sit the bench quite a bit, which is OK. One of these days she's going to shoot up and then I think the skills she does have will be more apparent. It's nice that she can dribble and shoot, but there are kids out there a foot taller than she is, and some even more.
So. Mack has two games tomorrow and Alex has one. I've got to go to Powell Butte either tomorrow or Sunday for an article. It's supposed to rain, so I guess I'll just plan to get soaked.
Tomorrow night I'm going to see Rick Emerson's one-man show called Bigger Than Jesus with my friend Jill. I don't think I've ever seen a one-man show before, and I've been listening to Rick Emerson's radio show for about five years, not counting that unfortunate period when he was fired and replaced by someone unspeakably awful.
Here's a little snippet from The Oregonian about the one-man show: "Everyone has a band, song or album," says Emerson, whose radio show is broadcast noon to 3 p.m. weekdays on KOTK (1080 AM), "that touched them at just the right time, or saved them when they were feeling low. I wrote 'Bigger Than Jesus' as a love letter to those bands, and as a reminder to everyone else: Never stop loving music. It can save you."
I'm looking forward to it.
I had an appointment with my insurance agent last night about buying life insurance. My insurance guy is a really nice, seemingly sincere guy, but there's still something that feels so sleazy about an insurance office. I'm glad it's over.
I've slipped a little on the diet, but am back on the straight and narrow again now.
Not much else to report. Mr. S has been on his best behavior since the other night's fiasco. Oh, Les Schwab managed to repair my tire, so it only cost $11.25 to get me back on the road. I was sure it would have to be replaced, and that I'd have to replace at least one other tire, so that was a nice surprise.
It's just a matter of time before Mr. S goes back to his old self. If history is any teacher, it will be before the end of the day today. He loves to piss everyone off on Fridays.

When you drive to Powell Butte, you might drive past my high school -- Cleveland, on 26th & Powell -- if you don't take something like 205, that is.
I'm trying to sign up for writersmarket.com but for some reason the sign up page isn't working... what, they don't want my money? Hmm, maybe later.
Have tons of fun at the show - one man shows are one of my favorite types of productions, especially with an engaging actor.
:)
happy friday!
