  • If anyone goes to see "Sicko," please tell me if there is vomiting in it. I can't go without knowing because I'll be stressed out the entire time. I may not be able to go if there is, but I definitely can't go if I don't know whether to expect it.

They moved the tennis match indoors so we played tonight at 8:15. I just got home, had a little reheated spaghetti, took a quick shower and I'm ready for bed. In other words, it was a long freakin' match. We lost, 4-6, 4-6. They could run down any ball. I only hit two aces and I normally hit around 10 in a match--that's how well they got to the ball. I have never served better than I did tonight, even with only two aces. I think I only missed about 6 first serves in the whole match.

I know that means nothing to most of you.

I do not want to go to work tomorrow.  I had to go back this afternoon after the airport and it sucked. So boring. I do have a little Mr. S material, though. One RE the new employee and one RE FedEx (note to self). Also, I think my co-worker might be keeping a blog of his own. I don't know yet.

And now, it's 11pm and I need to TRY to get some sleep tonight. I was going to take a Tylenol PM last night, but I was afraid I'd get called in the middle of the night to go to the airport. The problem for me with stuff like Tylenol PM is I don't really feel like I've slept. I feel like I've just been awake and unable to open my eyes. It's not really restful. Plus, anything that slows my system down makes me really, really cranky. What I need is a cool, dark room and a lot of time.

I head "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" today in the grocery store. Either that song has aged well or my musical taste hasn't.

I had something else to say, but damned if I know what it was.

Sorry about the tennis match. I never hit aces, so you ought to be proud anyway. Somehow, I have never got that "snap" in my serve and cannot get the pace up. I've been told to throw my body weight into it (there ain't much of that), but then my timing goes off. If there is one stroke I'd want to fix, it would be my serve. I wish I knew how you did it.

My pro did fix my forehand and now I actually think I'm balanced. My backhand used to be the better shot. I do get better with time, but that serve doesn't.

I will await your e-mail re: Wimbledon. I haven't been watching it today, because of errands. I think Fed is playing Gasquet. Can't be sure. Venus is on her way to victory, because I can see no way that Bartoli can win. I've got to believe that the Henin match was a fluke.

RYC: Ah, you played in high school. See, I took it up as an adult. I don't know why, but it's hard for adults to lose bad, old habits. I got the serve motion easily (I took a lot of dance when I was young, so the sweeping motion is easy for me), but I cannot get the snap--or powerful one, anyway. It remains a flat and pretty easy to return serve. I try for placement to make it harder. I still don't know how to get my legs into it, or I would have tried that.

My husband just gave me the Wimbledon results. Sorry I missed the Gasquet bashing. I'm sure Fed just took him apart. But the Venus thing seemed just boring. Too bad about Djokovic, really.
