good evening, friends! today was a great day! this morning, mel and i went to san marco church for palm sunday. (it was really exciting celebrating palm sunday in a different country! it was weird tho cuz altho there ARE palms here, the florentines use olive branches instead. hehehe, weird, huh?) then, we went to bar lydia, but it was closed so i couldn't eat my prosciutto, mozzerella, and tomato sandwich. so instead, we ordered chinese to eat in my room.

this afternoon, ning, diana, and i went to the Academy to see Michelangelo's
David. it was fantastic!!! i really really really enjoyed [seeing him]! he was huge and beautiful and magnificent... (everyone should see him at least once in their lifetime. i mean, seriously, all other works of art, at least in my mind, pale in comparison. espcially after reading about the techinical difficulties presented by that impossible block of marble, and how for over 50 yrs, the greatest artists were unable to make anything out of that chunk of rock... it makes u appreciate Michelangelo so much more!)

afterwards, we had gelato in front of the Dome. the weather was beautiful today, sunny, and there were loads of ppl, both locals and tourists, out in the streets and near the Dome. then, ning and i went shopping! but i only bought one top-- it's super sexy!

oh and i almost forgot! yesterday, mel and i went to the Medici librari, and then, with katie, we visited the Medici chapel (where all the Medici are buried). the library was boring (all the great manuscripts are hoarded in a vault downstairs, so basically all we saw were the tables where the books USED to be chained. lol. but the building was designed by Michelangelo, and it was interesting. still, i was disappointed.) but the chapel was incredible! especially the sculptures Michelangelo created to decorate the tombs downstairs. (of course, they were beautiful, but more than that... they were so smooth! and all the muscles were just so real... honestly, i will never cease to be amazed by him!)

so, anyways, yeah. this weekend was great!
