OK I can't keep it any longer, I haven't talked about it before because I was afraid it would offend people who are now in too much pain and could take it the wrong way, but no i can't keep quiet any longer.

I am sad, I have cried, I can't belive what happened like most of you, but you all know things don't happen for free.

Killing is not the way to solve things, this should have never gone so far, but it did, and it did because for years the economic power of the USA has made their government belive they can rule the world, that they can tell other what to do, that they can say who is the good and who is the evil in this world. People are sad about what happend, but they are also afraid, they are afraid this will end in war.

And if we go on war is not because two big bulding were distroyed and thousands of lives distroyed in a few minutes, this could have happend in a contry on development and it would only have taken 5 minutes on the news. But it happend in the USA, ant the USA is the only country that has the power to make the lives of the rest of the world hell.

I have nothing against Americans, ther are some really great people there, but I just hate how the USA thinks they are above the rest of the world, yes they are a great nation, yes they have been able to seace the chance and become the most powerfull country, but power and money are nothing if we do not accept that deep inside we are just like anyone else.

I cry the losts we had on the 11th, the lost of so many valuable people, the lost of human being, that by accident happened to be Americans, but that above all were human just like you and me. But I am also thankfull that I am alive, I am thankfull that those whom I love are alive and I invite all of you reading my mail to be happy for being able to walk to breath. And I think for all of us that are too far to help the victims it is our duty to be happy, to keep on living, to dance, to enjoy life, to work hard for when the day comes that we need to leave this world we would know we have nothing to regret. We most not forget what happened, but we most as well celebrate life.

It's obvious we have differing opinions. But those who helped undermine the USA are celebrating. Even in hell the dead that caused this celebrate I am sure. A country as great as ours cannot stand by to watch this happen. No other country would either. They didn't attack our military. They attacked us--mothers, fathers, and our children who grieve because of it. And I'm sorry, but they should pay for it. And they will.

WE ARE ABOVE THE REST OF THE WORLD.

Why do you think so many of your people come to the US??

Get a grip and learn from the best.

I think you have forgotten that america helps out a lot of other countries.  We give foreign aid in the billions to countries world wide..including mexico.   We have helped numerous countries when they were in trouble.  For example, france, england, many arab countries, africa.   Granted we are not a perfect country, but neither is any country out there.  The people in those towers were not just americans...but people from around the world..including arabs.   Do you think we should sit back and say..HEY! So what if they killed thousands of our people...lets just let them go? What would your country do?  here's a letter...that might explain some of the good things we do..It's from a canadian.

TRIBUTE TO THE UNITED STATES

This, from a Canadian newspaper, is worth sharing.

America: The Good Neighbor.

Widespread but only partial news coverage was given recently to a remarkable editorial broadcast from Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian television commentator. What follows is the full text of his trenchant remarks as printed in the Congressional Record:

"This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the earth.

Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of these countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States.

When France was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it.

When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the United States that hurries in to help. This spring, 59 American communities were flattened by tornadoes. Nobody helped.

The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped billions of dollars into discouraged countries. Now newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent, warmongering Americans.

I'd like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplane. Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas DC10? If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all the International lines except Russia fly American Planes?

Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or woman on the moon? You talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy, and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy, and you find men on the moon - not once, but several times - and safely home again.

You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everybody to look at . Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American dollars from ma and pa at home to spend here.

When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both are still broke.

I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake.

Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I'm one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of those."

Stand proud, America!

Wear it proudly!!

I hope you guys don't get me all wrong I am not an american hater, I like the USA, have been there, learned from them, use thier products, met some great people, and seen that they are no better than me, nor worse than me, they are just human, they are blood and skin just like anyone else, they have a heart too.

Yes, we have a heart. Big ones. And our nation and the protection of our freedom and choices we are able to make because of the battles fought to give it to us. Turning the other cheek should not be an option.

Well, I admire you for stating your opinion... especially one which is bound to be unpopular with so many people here   While I do not necessarily agree with the "America had it coming" attitude, I do believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I do agree with your celebration of life...

Thank you also for your kindness regarding my grandfather...  I am still waiting patiently...

I agree people are people, good, bad, or ugly, but I also believe that America is wonderful and I am not going to compromise by beliefs in that respect.

Thanks for your input to my post.  I don't hate the race, I am angered at the individual that conjured up such travesty.  They will be punished and their people will suffer like ours have.  The worst is yet to come.  We, as AMERICANS, will overcome this.

but i do disagree w u that the US had tis coming.  i think its admirable that this nation has become what it is & they have a right to be proud of what they have achieved.  i dun think anyone, no matter what, deserves what the US got last tuesday.  God bless all of us.

I understand what you're saying and agree to some extent.  But being the top dog is tough, whatever they do they will be scrutinized.  If they help everyone equally, people say they should pay more attention to the people in their own country.  If they help out very little, they're criticized because there is implied responsibility with being the most powerful nation.  And I'm guilty of criticizing them perhaps a little too much.  This is another situation where they can't win no matter what they do.

I hear what you're saying, peke, but America is a young country that has worked VERY hard to get where it is today. It wasn't easy for us to become so powerful, I'm sure you know this. We're not flaunting anything. We worked to get where we are.

congrats on having the courage to post this blog

i understand the view from many foreign nations is that we think we rule the world, tell other countries what to do, determine what is good and evil, etc...but i really don't see the proof...what i see is that there's a global USA-bashing mentality out there that's acceptable in many places...based on what, i'm not sure...jealousy?  anger?  i don't know...my point is that i hear this USA-bashing, but don't see the proof that it's valid...give me the evidence

Yea you are right. We, the Americans, are a money hungry, power-drivin, selfish based society. However, (not to be biased) but things like this happen everyday in third world countries and even developed countries. For example, consisent war, riots, and revolutions just dont happen it America. And this is not about money or about it happening here or who is the best. Its about people dying for no reason other than going to work! Thousands upon thousands people dying! We are a peaceful nation. Seriously, we dont want war. We dont want stupid conflicts get in the way so that our fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters or myslef to go and fight for something that could be reasoned by other nations just having an opened mind and except peace. And we always root for the underdog. We have never said, "man those people over there in so and so country are going to lose this so lets be on the other side so that we can really prove we are the best". The patriotism has gone up so high in American that all the stores that sell the American Flag are all sold out! People cant find them anywhere. I love this country, not because we are greedy, stuck-up, selfish and we think we are better than any country but because we want true freedom! Not just for us but for all the Authoritian/Totalitarian countries in the whole world. Its instances like this that make us realize that the rest of the of the world dont care about what happened. But there were many many people working in those buildings that were from other countries like Britian and England. But its the rest of the world that just does not care. We arent just a country that cares about money. People died. And we wont stand for it.

It took balls to say what you did, given the sheer amount of emotionally driven, defensive "patriotism" circulating among Americans right now.  Also, I note that nowhere in your post did you say we "had it coming" or "deserved it," but rather pointed out, accurately [albeit in general terms, but then, to go through the specific examples would take hours], the reasons that America was singled out for these vicious attacks.  Like you said, things don't happen for free.  If my country's military and political establishment expects to set itself up as some kind of infallible arbiter in international disputes, as a vehicle by which to protect our own military and economic interests [this, of course, is referred to as "helping out" ... go figure], then it is our civilian population which will pay the price.  Isn't that how it always goes?  Like Ani Difranco wrote, "all i know is that those/ that are going to be killed/ aren't those that preside/ on capitol hill."  I share your apprehension over war, as do many of my friends here in America, but I share more so your determination to live life and enjoy it regardless of the adversity we now face.  It is more important than ever for Americans to do so now, to prove we will not be cowed by terrorism, but it is an obligation we share with the entire world; it is what binds us together.  I appreciate so much that you mourn for us not as Americans, but as fellow human beings, because it is only within this context that we can share anything at all.

I agree that you are brave for speaking your mind. It was hard for me to express myself also because people tend to get irrational when they are upset. I got a little bad feedback, but received more supportive comments for some reason (in e-mail, not on Xanga). I read a very interesting article called "To Some, America Had it Coming." I will post the text or link on my log now. Thanks for upholding the spirit of free speech.

And for whoever said we (the U.S.) is nice for giving billions of dollars to countries in need I need to stress... Many powerful, imperialist nations donate some money for good press. But, the fact is, imperialist nations become powerful off the backs of the poor and the minorities in their own country and also feeding off of other 3rd world countries. For example, the Vietname War killed 2 million Vietnamese and destroyed almost 2/3 of their rainforest. Then you wonder why VN has to agree to let U.S. owned corporations open up sweatshop factories there? Think of how much money Belgium, France and the U.K. made off of all of India and Africa. Then we wonder why now these areas have lost so many resources and are now in heavy, heavy debt($) to so-called "charitable and great nations."

THE END
