  • whew! i'm finally back on xanga.... now that i'm back from "lake verr-part-memph-dianapolis"- all in 10 days!!!

and of course, i have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off since i got back!

but my vacation was fabulous... 5 days of laying around doing, essentially, nothing. swimming, skiing, eating, sleeping, soaking up the sun. *sigh* i guess it couldn't last forever.

indianapolis was exhausting. 4 days of 12 hour meetings/sessions and i even presented my research on tuesday morning! it was the national joint meeting of the american society of animal scientists (ASAS) and the american dairy science association (ADSA) and it was amazing to get to talk to other scientists in my field from around the country, many of which i not only have read papers from, but who i even cited in my thesis! i even got numerous compliments on my research and presentation. (: it was a great experience, and it did a lot to refresh my desire to do research, but boy was it tiring! my brain was worn out by thursday.

AND my manuscript is now ready for submission for publication. YAY!! soon i will be a twice-published author (if you count my thesis).... and we have another manuscript in the works!

    on a more sour note.....

i have to have a colonoscopy. at twenty-five years of age, i have to have a colonoscopy. this will probably be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay TMI, so avert your eyes if you wish, but i have been bleeding from *ahem* down there for about 2 days now..... so i am a little scared, but i have decided that i won't worry until it;s really warrented. i mean, it could be from a myriad of things internally, all of which are pretty minor- the docs just want to rule out any bad stuff. so, my consult is tuesday at 1:45 pm (that is the absolute earliest that they could work me in... there are a lot of people with GI problems out there!) and we'll go from there. say a prayer for me. (:

I"m glad to hear you had such an awesome vacation, you definitely deserved it ! I was actually in Indianapolis a few years ago and I watched one of their baseball games -- and their pitcher actually threw a no-hitter against the Norfolk Tide !

Meeting with a bunch of scientists in the same field as you must have been such a valuable experience for you. It must have been great to hear how much they liked your research and to be able just to talk with them and hear what they had to say. I'm sure you'll be able to pick up a lot, and have great memories from your time there.

Congratulations on your manuscript, that must be very exciting. I'm sure you worked super hard on it and to be able to get it published is a big thing.... you should be very proud. I've never heard of a colonoscopy before, but I'm far from a medical expert so I'm not very surprised that I'm totally unsure of what it is.

I really do wish you all the best and hopefully when you meet with the dr. and get your consult everything is fine. Its a great idea that you are checking things out now, from what I have heard a lot of people don't even bother checking certain health concerns out for a long, long, long time, and thats' never a good thing to do.

Anyways I really hope that everything works out well for you and that you have a great weekend. Take care and I'll talk to you later, bye for now.

From what I've been told, the prep is worse than the actual test.  I hope there is nothing serious going on...  I will definitely keep you in prayer...  Congrats on the publication!

ryc:  don't think I've ever had "pole" beans..  Since I haven't met a bean I didn't like, I'll have to give those a try.  My list of veggies would be crazy long and include everything you had and then some brussel sprouts (no eggplant tho).  Those are awesome fresh.  Growing up on a farm, we had a HUGE garden.  I remember picking row after row after row after row of green beans and then having to tip and tail them.  Despite hating picking them, I love fresh green beans!
