  • I am, I said...

I need a challenge I suppose, it is summer, and I have no deadlines, oh except for the end of summer.  There, I did it..., rant deleted.  I will call my brother this morning, I am sure he has cooled down some, and become sensible since last night, HA!  My son..., will he is a teenager, the situation should need no further explanation.   I love him anyway.  Everything else as they say is just gravy.

So you know I recently joined Featured_Grownups, and loved it, and out of that sprang Internet_Island, and a new writing topic.

    So here it goes....

    Who I Am?

    Copy of a 1 (Small)

    My daddy’s little girl,

    My mother’s daughter

    My son’s mother,

    My student’s teacher,

    My boyfriend’s girlfriend,

    My sister and brother’s sister,

    My niece and nephew’s aunt,

    My friend’s friend,

    My dog’s owner,

    My bill collector’s debtor,

    My employer’s employee,

I am a wearer of many hats.

Taking a Power Nap can put you back in the pink

    I am warm and caring,

    But cold, and distant,

    I am tall and proud,

    But shy and unsure,

    I am old and wise,

    But alone and afraid.

    I am smart and witty,

    But uninformed, and dim.

    I am tears, and laughter,

    But secluded, and remote.

    I am sure, and strong,

    But weak, and anxious.

I am a coat of many colors.

Whenever possible, jump and clap for joy!

    I am a lover, a fighter, a dreamer, a designer,

I am a child of God.

I am a believer in lost causes, the planet earth, and people.

I am a child of the universe.

     rainbow

    I am a dawdler, a procrastinator, a hopeless romantic,

And still a child of God

    I am a mother, a daughter, a sister,

I am a child of my Father.

I seek my importance, and yet know it lies not on this earth for me to find.  So I am an explorer of boundaries that do not exist.

    women

    I am.

    ~ Tricia

Finally I end with a quote by my father's favorite musician... Neil Diamond.

    "I am," I said
    To no one there
An no one heard at all
    Not even the chair
    "I am," I cried
    "I am," said I
And I am lost, and I can't even say why
    Leavin' me lonely still.

    ~ Neil Diamond

Great assignment and you did a terrific job with it.  I think I would've had to bonk that child over the head with something!  So much for relaxation, huh?  *hugs*

    Wonderful! Welcome to the Island
  • greatgrandpadog

I like this.  I particularly liked when you brought it all into focus with [I am a coat of many colors],  and of course [And still a child of God].

ryc: Good day to you as well.

At first I thought those flamingos (they are flamingos aren't they?) were flowers.  Thanks for subscribing.

    Hi Tricia,

I love your explaination of who you are....You are beautiful!!  The most accurate part of your description is "I am warm and caring"....That's what you seem like to me!!

I have never had a pedicure because I'm too damn ticklish!!.....

    Enjoyed this entry sweetie.

    Love, Candy

Excellent poem....it is hard to define ourselves out of context...or in any fixed manner. So many women can relate to your sense of aelf...especially with regard to contradictions.
  • CynaraJane

I am sitting here wiping tears from my eyes after reading this. I can relate to this so much I could have written it, except not as eloquently as you just have. Beautiful.

RYC: I really wanted to comment about your comment, but it will have to wait. I'll be back...I have to blow my nose!

How absolutely beautiful! Simply said but very visual and reflective. I will also admit that I have always related to that specific song by Neil Diamond. He is my favorite singer.

    Dear Tricia,

What a stupendous introductory post. I might even say this is literature, and please don't "delete" your "rant" as it makes a perfect introduction.

Thank you so much for joining and for participating. I need to get off the internet now. Nearly 8pm and I have to get up at 3:30am, but didn't want to sign off and dim the screen without commenting on your entry.

I was reminded of the poem "Desiderata" and then read "I am a child of the universe...and a child of God". Wonderful phrasing, poetic, excellently presented. I don't give awards for these entries, but between you, me, and the blogpost, you deserve one for this.

Now to inject a bit of levity. If I were to write in this style I'd have to say I'm my cats' pet. They're the owners.

Tricia, I linked you. I hope you don't mind.

Now, RYC: LOL, yeah, you know those are the REAL questions I want to ask!! Especially about the $10 raise and the time to update my Xanga! Oh, and if I wanted weather like this all the time, I'd just move to Texas I guess! ROFL

  • SeafoamMermaid22

Wow, haven't heard you "go off" like that yet! Hehe!! :)

I thought it was cute that little boy gets a pedicure with mommy. I am sure Jordan will be doing that stuff with me someday, haha.

Sometimes you just have to whine, and as annoyingly as possible... it is a part of not going crazy, lol

Very nice writing assignment,  I feel I know you better...

  • BB61
    That was nice.
  • skootrbass
Talk about wearing your heart on your sleeve! Or in this case, your Xanga. That was, I'm sorry, I'm speechless. I gotta go wipe my eyes.

That was cool. (: "I am a lover, a fighter, a dreamer, a designer.." was my favourite. B&N = Barnes & Nobles, yeah? I don't think I have a B&N in my area.. but I do have a Chapters that has a Starbucks in it. (: I love it when there's a coffee-ish area inside a bookstore. Lalala.. what's the name of your little town? Maybe I can mail you some Pho! (: 'Cos I'm THAT thoughtful. (; Haha, joking.

Wow!  You summed yourself up in all these contrasting quandrys.  I like that...you seem complicated, in a simple sort of way...ha!  There we are, again.

I liked this post and finding more out about you.

    Take care,

    John

Nope, haven't finished the book, yet.  Still working on a title, and I need to finish the compiling, and then printing.  Dollars is a big factor, here, I think.  But, it WILL get done...I'm praying about that.
  • CynaraJane
RYC: Damn it! You're going to make me cry AGAIN! I love you, too. ((((Tricia)))) Oh, and I'm not drinking, either. But, I am going to look like it tomorrow with my big puffy eyes!!
  • MelaMom
    That is awesome!  Great job!
  • Still_groovy

Very nice post, Tricia.  As someone who still misses her dad each day after 23 years, I recognize that same feeling in your words.
