| | So today I was at track practice, on the sidelines (because I have no physical), and I got to thiniking.
About everything.
I hate math. Almost with a passion. I've been able to get by in it.
Unless something dramatic happens, I'm gonna be a History major.
Ever since I was little, I wanted to come to MIT and be a Computer Science major.
Now I'm here at MIT, and I'm realizing that being Course VI won't work with my goal of going to law school. Any law school that I want to go to anyway, simply for GPA reasons.
This is assuming that I could make it through the math required for Course VI without wanting to shoot myself, which I doubt, since I'm terrible at math.
So history. I love it. I loved it so much that I ended up taking every history class my school offered by Junior year. I think it's partially the reason I love quiz bowl so much.
Regardless of this fact, I always shied away from history as a major. Not because I didn't like it, but because of that childhood dream that just doesn't work with reality.
So the current plan, I won't have to take a math class beyond 18.02, I'll have my history with a dash of political science, and everybody graduates happy.
About being a humanities major at MIT.....meh. Not gonna bullshit, I feel a bit strange about it.
It's almost like getting a steak at Waffle House (which are delicious, btw).
It's just that, I'm the type of cat who goes to places for their speciality. For instance, whenever I go to Waffle House, I always get a waffle. Maybe two.
I know I have time until I have to declare, but it's just that I'm very purpose driven. I need to have a purpose to work for, otherwise I'm just this aimless thing.
So after this realization, I've been ridiculously happy. Which begs the question: What's gonna make me unhappy?
Wait. Never mind. Meeting with TA tomorrow. I've never been comfortable in one-on-ones with authority figures and the like. Especially when it's because of my sucking.
Also, totally taking 6.00 for one of my REST classes. You didn't honestly think I would leave here without taking a comp sci class, did you?
Be serious. |
