  • reality or division?

WE tend to put everything in our lives into fragmentations. Categorization means identity to alot of people. Race, ethnic, gender etc. And the thing is, because of the thinking that this is my identity, this is my reality, we create a boundary between us and other people.

Are races etc. really the reality of men? No, they are division created by the human mind.

Baha'u'llah says that: "O children of men! Know ye not why We created you all from the same dust? That no one should exalt himself over the other. Ponder at all times in your hearts how ye were created. Since We have created you all from one same substance it is incumbent on you to be even as one soul, to walk with the same feet, eat with the same mouth and dwell in the same land, that from your inmost being, by your deeds and actions, the signs of oneness and the essence of detachment may be made manifest."

The next time someone asks you:"what is your race?" why don't you answer:"my race is the human race." instead?

I still think to many people, religion is a luxury. I have taught pre-school before. Children as young as three years old know the feeling of insignificance and rejection. Fragmentation helps us find our unique identity, to feel significant.

Ofcourse, you'd say we are whole because of God. But this thinking is learned.

I have a friend who is a Psychopath. Very intelligent and successful in career. But he's a psychopath. Neuroscience research showed psychopaths are have dysfunctional anterior superior temporal gyrus and surrounding cortex, with low frequency in the frontal lobe for language comprehension. They lack empathy, unable to distinguish abstract ideas. That is, in an otherwise fully sound human being.

Can I say my friend is a bad person? No, he's a good heart until his Psychopath tendencies kick in.

Similarly, I feel fragmentation is sometimes necessary to help us make sense of reality.

But I do agree that if we are capable of achieving a higher state of mind, we should go for it.

My point is about how we use these fragmentations to create boundaries between us and other people, sorta like finding excuse to be disunitd with someone. I agree that categorization is not all bad, but if it leads to dichotomies, then it definitely will bring negative effect.
