| | S: Luke 4:8,14
8 Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.'"
14Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside.
O: Temptation is not only about being enticed with power, wealth, fame,
pleasure, etc. It is all about WORSHIP. When I am tempted, I am
choosing to worship someone or something other than God. In truth,
there is nothing better than loving God, but the enemy lies and is
deceitful. He make the things of this world, the things of the flesh,
so juicy and tantalizing. But he can only do that by tapping into our
carnality, our insecurities, and our broken flesh. But Jesus didn't
fall for it because He relied on a much higher source for His
fulfillment. When Jesus returned, he was filled with power and
authority. I believe there is a connection between overcoming
temptation and spiritual power.
A: Who do I Worship? God? The World? Myself? Who will I put first in my
life? Just as Jesus used Scripture to rebuke the devil, I am convinced
that the only effective way to cut through temptation is to be
saturated with the Word of God, and to actively use it in my life.
P: Lord, you deserve all my worship. Fill my heart with your Word, that I might not sin again you (Psalm 119:11). Amen.
