Pink Slippers and Vodka
I'm sending off the book cover today! WhoooHoooo. My cousin in law designed the cover. Sketching is a hobby of his. It is a sketch of a girl in the water looking up at a raven. In the water are words floating around her. I think he did a good job. He stayed up several nights sketching his little heart out. I am so proud of him! I'm a little nervous about sending it off today though. I hope the publisher likes it.... anyway I shall not fear. Everything else has worked out great so far.
Here is a poem for this delicious Monday:Pink Slippers and Vodka
I flutter about
in my pink slippers
sipping
on your latest concoction
vodka kisses
carve shapes into this
gossamer heart
still beating like a paper drum
your heated dream falls
in time
as mystery plays
it's own little tune
you ask me to be your butterfly
freshly emerged
from your cocoon
dripping

of freedom
I just hover before you
naked
with flesh fingers crawling
from this dagger of dependency
you remain hypnotized
by my unspoken words
waiting for me to disappear
with my slippers and drink unspilled
reality mingles with such a sweet sting
and you remain in love
with this hurricane of danger
as I flutter away

that last stanza rocks!
Before I read Saadia's comment, I thought the same thing: last stanza ROCKS!! From the "sting" of the first line, to the fluttering away like a hurricane. Very cool!
Hey, post the illustration so we can see it and be EXCITED with you!!

Ditto above, also I adore the fourth verse. Cheers.

I like the last stanza best it is wonderful. What an exciting write. Ryc. Have you tried walking mediation. Judi
a raven, how appropriate :)
and you know, i have a propensity for spilling things. i'm always spilling things. maybe it's because i leave open cups and containers in places where they shouldn't be. like on the carpet or on the window sill
Talk about sweet intoxication!!!!

Very beautiful :)
To be honest with you, I don't know if I can either. Change is one of life's biggest challenges- and for some (like me, you too maybe) relaxing means changing.
Nice poem =]
