  • the most romantic gift

it was a chocolate pastry, tiny and delicious. And on top of it was a thin chocolate heart with white sugar letters saying "I love you"

maybe we exchanged those Easter gifts when I was 12 and he 11, or maybe we were 13 and 12. He'll always be a year younger than me and I'll always rembmer those Easter holidays and summers that I spent with his family, when my mom needed her alone time and I was thrilled to be woith his family since they had horses.

Those early teenage years, we spent some summers of tenderness together. We could stay in his room an entire afternoon just reading comic books and listening to the Born in the USA album by Brusce Springsteen on his tape cassette player. We could be close without words. He was my first romantic kisser. He was the first person to show me that kind of affection. And we never talked about it.
