| | i'm wondering why does bad grammar make me so mad..and why is it just so funny to laugh at?
i've been in two very contrasting situations where bad grammar was the main feature.
situation 1: the speaker obviously has his/her flaws when speaking english but it thoroughly and completely entertains me while i laugh at his/her inability to grasp the simple nature of a relatively simple language. i'm not alone in my laughter because i know various other people who have laughed along with me.
situation 2: the speaker knows of his/her flaws and wishes to improve by...superficially adding an american/australian/british accent to his/her speech. i mean what is up with that? i mean if you can't speak well...the last bloody thing you should do is add a stinking fake accent to your speech and just make it all the worse!
and why do people speak with accents? okay..if you're speaking to a foreigner..say american/australian/british i think it's completely acceptable that you put on an accent because it just seems to come out that way. anyway we malaysians speak too quickly and we sometimes mutter stuff with our la's and ei's and woi's and our malaysian grammar isn't the best. fine. but we understand each other and we make an exception when we speak to other's who obviously don't speak our language. but why do you want to bring that accent along with you? does that make you better? you think you're more sophisticated talking like that? you know it's fake. you were raised speaking in a specific way and to bloody hell with you if you think spending 1 month overseas is going to change that. you are who you are (language-wise). just accept that...stinking poser..:P |
